No worries, I didn't know about the combinations of red and blue light so thank you!! I think I'll end up buying some of these cheapos. Should definitely be something on the side bar for grow lights. Was about to subscribe to /r/indoorgarden for tips but I don't see much interest in grow lights over there. Anyways, hope you order some seeds and post your progress! ;)
This is the one I specifically use ( amazon ).
It does give off a pink tint because they're plant lights but my plants LOVE them. And I have it about three feet from the cage because I have it for other plants that I keep next to my setup. So I guess it's not directly on the gecko. Plus the fact that it's pink makes it less harsh on the eyes.
I also have this one and it also works great. Much smaller and gives off a white light so guests don't think it looks funny compared to the pink.
It's all up to you. They both have pros and cons and both work well.
I use one of these grow lights on my avocado.
To encourage "bushiness"- pinch off one of the new buds at the top of the stalk. Your plant will push more energy towards other buds. I do not recommend cutting close to the pit now, as your plant likely does not have any active buds along its trunk.
