Definitely the right place.

Got a budget? What gpu? How handy are you?

Infinite rich person budget you go for the Lukos, 17.3in 144hz freesync godliness.

Reasonable 15.6 inch is the Kenowa.

Reasonable 13 inch is the El Crow.

If you are handy and love diy, you can make one out of an laptop panel or ipad panel.

All of them use your gpu, are 1080p+, and are fairly slim.

There is a large discussion on the sff.net forums if you enjoy researching.

This one is pricey but really good. 5v USB powered, so I use a single power brick to power this and my pi.

I have one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0787RF8YB

$145.99 - 1920x1080 13.3" screen in a tough aluminum shell (w/ VESA 75 mount holes), dual mini hdmi inputs (one mini hdmi to standard hdmi cable included), built in stereo speakers, headphone jack, can be powered by included 5v AC adapter OR micro usb cable to battery pack or any usb port that can provide ~1.5 amps.

Picture is great. Sound is loud and clean when turned up. Feels like it weighs nothing for its size.

Not sure a Pi 3 will power it (I can test if you're interested) but my odroid and NUC have powered it via USB with no issues at all.

UPDATE: The Pi 3 can power it fine (it can run on ~5v,1a) but you MUST set the following in config.txt (Only needed if the Pi is the monitors power source):

hdmi_force_hotplug=1 (Force HDMI Mode, composite & GPIO displays won't be used)

hdmi_group=1 (1=TVs with audio, 2=DVI/Video only)

hdmi_mode=16 (16=1080p, 4=720p)

hdmi_ignore_edid=0xa5000080 (tells the Pi to assume all audio modes are supported via HDMI)

The monitor doesn't boot fast enough from USB power to be detected by the Pi at initial boot, so the Pi defaults in to a non-HDMI mode before the monitor can receive a signal resulting in a blank display. using the commands above forces the Pi to stay in HDMI output mode regardless of what (if any) displays are connected. These settings are harmless unless you switch back and forth between HDMI, composite and/or GPIO video output devices.

Ask them for the patent numbers if their kickstand is patented.

Spec wise it doesn't seem too far out there. They are just repackaging a standard panel and control board in a neat case (which could explain the interface shift as they are off the shelf components from suppliers).

If you want to take a less risky option, just buy one that's already available and grab a USB power pack - https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-MB169B-1920x1080-Portable-Monitor/dp/B013XFJKGI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1549341182&sr=8-3&keywords=portable+monitor+1080p

There's not many options. I got the ASUS MB169C+ for around $200 when it was new and it works well. The MB16A2 is its successor with a couple extra features. You can use a USB 3 monitor, but it adds latency and needs to be setup on a different monitor first and you can't access BIOS etc.

Gechic makes great portable monitors, but they're pricey. I recently bought an Elecrow 13.3" monitor for around $130 and it works very well, but is smaller than your desired 15.6"

Edit: Elecrow 13.3" monitor powered via micro USB w/ HDMI input

no idea if cheapest but https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0787RF8YB/

note that docked mode usually puts games into a smaller font mode... meant for a BIG TV... on small screens positively unreadable.

good luck
