You might want to try a "shock pump" on Amazon with a lever lock like this one. I've seen other people on this subreddit suggesting this type of pump since it fits on without needing the adapter hose. The lever lock is supposed to let you detach the pump without losing much air.

But I was able to get away with using the included hose (and yes it is annoying).
You gotta screw in the hose until it seals and then pump the tire quite a bit above the desired pressure (I went to 60 psi and it didn't blow up). Then you pull on the rubber part while unscrewing the end of it (you'll notice that if you push the hose it will cause the valve to start releasing air earlier). After you get the hose off, you'll need to use a gauge to check the pressure and release to the desired level.
