No, the ham cannot survive in a critter trail. If you need to, go to a petco/petsmart and get a cheaper cage. I use a 3x4 foot fish tank with an extended roof but used to use a cheaper one. I’m not one to assume your financial status but they’re about $20. (Here’s one like I used)
