OP, you should have a look at pre-built servers (sacrilegious around here I know), but something like this might be be better for your requirement:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hewlett-Packard-Enterprise-ProLiant-MicroServer/dp/B013UBCHVU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1467106745&sr=8-1&keywords=proliant+microserver
Edit: cheaper link on Amazon.
Edit #2: You can usually get cash back/mail in rebate on these servers, but be careful as Amazon is not a recognised reseller (I found this out the hard way)

Edit: I just woke up and found that not a lot of people seem to find what I found funny, funny.
I had mentioned in an earlier reply that I'm in the UK, for whatever reason they are crazy cheap here (nothing else is though). Here is a link for one on Amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hewlett-Packard-Enterprise-ProLiant-MicroServer/dp/B013UBCHVU/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1467728504&sr=1-1&keywords=microserver+gen8) that is like 180 GBP which is around $236. A few of the UK only sellers will give you a 55 GBP rebate which drops the price considerably (I can fill out a form to not pay the extra 20% VAT tax).
Will do then!
Regarding price, I thought so too as well first off. But the cheapest model seems to be much cheaper, and upgraded with a a compatiable used CPU from eBay (maybe a gamble?) I couldn't find a way to do it cheaper. I'm interested in the Atom boards you mention. Do you have link?

These kind of machines are worth looking at if raw power isn't a must.
