$50 off the HyperX gaming headset at Amazon has me tempted... I'd probably jump on it if I hadn't already used Black Friday to buy a new phone.

been price tracking the headset for months and this is the first time it's gone on sale.

u/kobekittles · 6 pointsr/PS4

Depends on your budget.

I would recommend the HyperX Cloud Flights for $160.

You can use a USB to Audio adapter, and use any 3.5mm headphones. Like these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N905VOY

Personally use a wireless headset and love it https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Flight-Detachable-Comfortable/dp/B077ZGRY9V

  1. im not aware of an 'alpha pro' but i do know of the alpha, and the differences between the cloud alphas and the Alpha S are that the Alpha S has a usb sound card for virtual 7.1 and they also have these sliders on the earcups that are meant to help the bass. other than that, they are virtually the same headset just like how the revolver differs from the revolver s, probably there are some other minor improvements between them
  2. personally, i'd go with the original alpha since its cheaper and also built better than the cloud flights and also the revolvers. i've also heard a lot of people say the alphas are better in terms of sound than the revolver. i've only ever owned the alpha and the flight and the sound signature is there, just that the flights have a bigger soundstage probably due to the deeper earcups and also its wireless, which means that there are bound to be quality loss compared to wired. i'd say that the flights are 95% of the alphas when it comes to sound quality. cant say much about the Alpha s and the revolvers
  3. like i just stated, the flights are primarily plastic and mine creaks a lot, but they do feel comfortable. as far as i know, hyperx updated the original cloud alpha (white box) to have a better cable (to eliminate the cross-talk issue). the wires are also braided and removable so i wouldn't worry about the cable's durability on the alpha. i'd say the alpha and the alpha S has the better build.

if you value 7.1 surround, go with the Alpha S

if you value best bang for buck and has a great sound quality, go with the alpha.

wireless, but still has a good sound, flights. the cloud flights are on sale right now for 80usd (Hyper X Cloud Flight sale)

There are different accessories I have bought and has made my experience better.

Cable management: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073P7GJNP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

- Cheap (For just exploring around and watching videos) - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006B486K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

- Expensive (Mainly for playing games and having a mic instead of the built in mic since it's buggy on the headset) - https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Flight-Detachable-Comfortable/dp/B077ZGRY9V/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=3D960PSK6KV35&keywords=hyperx+cloud+flight&qid=1564661727&s=electronics&sprefix=hyperx+cloud+%2Celectronics%2C151&sr=1-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExRkdWSElOUU5JREhTJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNDYwNzUxMVZSTjVPU1pFS0Y1USZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMTEwOTk2MVgyMkUwMjdWRlo1MyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

Controller grips:

These arrive today so I can't say if they are good or bad yet but I've only heard good - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VCF9P73/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

I've had these for awhile and they work great (if you have larger hands, these are perfect) - https://www.mamutvr.com/collections/upcoming/products/mamut-touch-grip

Headset power:

I've heard people have had tracking issues due to insufficient power from their usb ports, my RTX 2080 has a dedicated USB-Type C that I use to power my headset and haven't had any tracking issues - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GGKYXVE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Rechargeable batteries for the controllers:

I've heard other people recommend different batteries but these have worked well for me - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IM3P8GS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

In particular for battle royals and shooters in general, I suggest the ASUS Centurion True 7.1 Surround. It's true 7.1, not digital/virtual. The digital/virtual mimic the time delay of sounds while in game, which is really cool, but it only localizes sound to the horizontal, not the vertical. The true 7.1 localizes to the vertical as well so you have true 3D spatial sound localization, and trust me it's amazing. You know exactly where someone is just from your ears. However, they have a crap mic that you'd need to either fix yourself with a small dremel or have a separate desk mic. They also can also sound off at first listen, but your brain adjusts. You can get them used sub $200.

For various RPG's like Fallout, you'll find the sound quality is relatively commensurate to the sound you'll want for movies and music. You wouldn't need specifically a gaming Sennheiser, though.

Personal opinion on sound quality, I'd put in order from best to worst, Bang & Olufsen, then Sennheiser, then Bose. If your build has a bluetooth built into the mobo, then that's great and you can get wireless, Or you can get a bluetooth dongle and sync them that way. With those however, since they're often not designed specifically for gaming, you'll have sound delays on the millisecond scale. That goes for any wireless as well. You've gotta remember though, that the speed of light is still pretty fast ;D, so the limiting factor is the processing between transmitter and receiver. If you've got great ears that can perceive millisecond differences while in a fire fight, then you need to stream asap.

The problem with these is that the decent ones will all likely start at about $300/$350 and work their way up from there.

For general use at a great value, the HyperX Cloud is incredibly popular, and it comes in wireless at $99.99 on Amazon. They're reported to be incredibly comfortable and solid quality. I think they're probably the best choice for a jack of all trades type of headphones for gaming (and other stuff), and at that price they're a steal. They're also from Amazon, so if you don't like them then it's incredibly easy to ship them back and get refunded then try something else.

Good Luck mate!

HyperX Cloud II, new Cloud Alpha are definitely better options. Sure they're not wireless BUT

EDIT: Shit, I just realized HyperX released a brand new wireless headset (The Cloud Flight) and it seems freaking awesome. https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-HX-HSCF-BK-AM-Wireless-Headset/dp/B077ZGRY9V it's at the same price point as the Man O' War -- you should definitely consider.

Both of these headsets feel very cheaply made to me, and Razer's quality really comes into question.

The HyperX Cloud Alpha is extremely comfortable and easily has the best microphone out of all the headsets mentioned.

I have been a Cloud II owner for about 2 years now, and I can easily say it is the best headset I've ever owned. Its comfortable, very sturdily built, sounds great, as well as the mic quality is top of the line for a headset, but not as good as the HyperX Alpha.

I owned a Corsair wireless H2100 and it was cool to walk around my house with my headset on (especially for pee breaks) but it was so heavy, a pain in the ass to charge, and it was very cheaply made, and the plastic on this felt sturdier than the plastic on the void pro. The mic arm actually lost retention for me after about a month, so finally I said fuck it and turned to the HyperX Cloud II's, and I've never looked back since.

Sure, the Void Pro wireless is cheaper than anything mentioned, but that price is really reflected in the build quality as well as mic quality -- it flat out sucks. It honestly reminds me of the Xbox 360 headsets in terms of quality and feel (the one with one headphone).

As for Logitech, their wireless game is cool, but god damn are those headsets uncomfortable, all of them. The cloth fabric on all their headsets drives my skull crazy and it feels like my head is going to get rug burn every time I wear them.

u/endmysufferingxX · 1 pointr/buildapc

These HyperX Cloud Flights are on sale for 113USD, not the lowest price (went as low as 89USD during Prime Day) but they are very good, with the backlight off I consistently got 26 hours on average (~5 days) before I had to charge.

Very light weight, comfortable, mic is average, but most gaming mics suck anyways and I would recommend getting a desk mic like this ffine k670 which are 48USD only.

Very good quality mic, nice build, and plug and play. I love it, and I can sit nearly 2 ft away from it and still have it sound clear as day without yelling.

u/shroudoftheimmortal · 1 pointr/imdbvg

Don't use wireless head phones...but got a pair of HyperX Cloud Stingers (wired) that are...adequate. I'd assume the HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless Gaming Headset at about $100 more would be...more adequate...?

The pair I have is super comfortable and the sound is more than good enough for gaming...don't enjoy listening to music on them too much though; the highs just aren't that good. The mic is decent too. But I have the budget model. The wireless version is $100 more and and has better...everything.

I'm kind of looking for another set myself.

What is the best audio setup for Discord on PC with the Switch?

  1. My goal is to have Discord (PC) audio and Switch game audio be heard from my headset.

  1. My second goal is to have Switch audio go through my speakers. I do not need Discord audio for this audio setup. Do I just plug in the speaker's 3.5 mm into my monitor that is connected to the docked Switch?

I have no set budget, so if I need to buy anything, please let me know. Thanks!
