Appreciate it, I'll just keep replying here if that's cool. Don't mind either way about PM but I do find lurkers might appreciate some of the advice. I'm set on the 2600, and its now 185 on Amazon so that helps. I'm pretty set on the tomahawk Mobo too which I think is lowest if you have prime.
I would like to see pics of the case, I hate the one I have its so dull and bulky but not also huge fan of the "I'M A GAMER" cases, which seem overpriced regardless. One you have is nice.
I might upgrade to a 1070 in a year+, from what I can tell that still pairs nicely with a 2600 but wanted to check. and lastly I do have 16 Gb of Ram but would consider getting some that works best with the Mobo and amd, did you already have Ram or did you buy to compliment the board.
edit: also would love a quite setup, my computer makes a decent amount of noise and I use it as part of the entertainment system.
[Here's a link to the Amazon listing you mentioned.]
(https://www.amazon.ca/XPG-GAMMIX-512GB-Gen3x4-AGAMMIXS11P-512GT-C/dp/B07KZXJTLN/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=SX8200&qid=1565098144&s=gateway&sr=8-8asd) Much better price. Thanks!
I'd like to note a better deal for $/GB, though: The SX 8200 is pretty much an identical drive for a great price- $150/TB. This is the Amazon listing.
I'd like to note this technical info from AnandTech. These two drives use the same controller and similar NAND. They're effectively the same drive, just the SX8200 is much denser for your money.
Friends got $400 CAD. He already has SSD and I plan on making a 1080p build for him.
Any good bundles y'all are aware of? We don't have to buy everything now (probably can't do it with $400) but would like to get as much on sale (recent gen.) as possible!
Thanks in advanced
Edit: I called him up and he's wants to just get the best bang for his buck. He's not concerned with purchasing the entire build right now since $400 is so low.
I'm thinking we're going to pick up the Ryzen 7 2700x for $229 and MSI B450 Gaming Plus for $119 on amazon prime. CPU looks to be the cheapest it's been in a while. They come out to $395 taxes and shipped + Borderlands 3.
Then definitely go with AMD if you're on such a budget. Something like this would be awesome for a budget build, and even go for that based on upcoming deals.
Note that you're not limited to Amazon as a vendor or those exact CPU's. That's just to give you an idea.
I am pretty new to this and only starting researching and learning under 2 months ago. That's my build so far and I probably spent around your budget if you exclude that GPU not accounting for Windows and monitor. This subreddit has been awesome for me finding deals. My build isn't done and things marked purchased with price are stuff I found through here while the rest is to be determined.

In response to the person who has been using it for 5 years, I'd recommend against it. There are better headphones available if you don't specifically search for a 'gaming headset'. I've said before the hyper x cloud sounds horrible from experience and I stick by it.
If you don't search by the gaming headset moniker and instead look for a separate headset/microphone combo you'll be a lot happier.
Personally I enjoy these headphones and microphone, but I've been using them for 2 years so I'm also probably a bit biased/out of the loop. If anyone recommends better, definitely chime in!
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00ENMK1DW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_JaVYDbZ82YWRP
Along with this microphone:
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00BJ17WKK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1cVYDbZRR7BN2
They are overpriced right now (headset was ~80 when I bought it, microphone was $35) so I'd wait until black Friday or look for a cheap alternative, but regardless I wouldn't go for the hyper x cloud. These are also open back so you'll have a nicer sound but others around you will be able to hear if you've got the volume up.

Not a bad deal. The Ryzen R5-2600 paired with a cheap B450 is probably a smarter way to go. The 2600 is on par gaming wise to the 9400f (especially overclocked) and quite a bit further ahead in in productivity. Also, you'll have an easy upgrade path to Zen 2/3 if/when needed where the 9400f is in a dying socket leaving you in a weird position of having to buy expensive second hand I7's for an upgrade. The Ryzen's extra 6 threads already help now with productivity and will likely help more in gaming long term.
Only $25.00 more..
$184.99 at Amazon.ca
https://www.amazon.ca/AMD-YD2600BBAFBOX-Processeur-RYZEN5-Socket/dp/B07B41WS48
This RAM is actually 3600 CL18 (18-22-22-42 timings) and not the CL16 shown on Amazon. See the model number: CMK16GX4M2Z3600C18
PCPartPicker also agrees. These sticks aren't on the B-Die list which would 3600 CL16 almost certainly be. The only B-Die from Corsair that is 2x8GB and 3600 CL16 is their Corsair Dominator RGB and Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro. This is clearly not any of those kits.
These are Hynix AFR chips.
---
With such bad timings, buy some 3000 CL15 or 3200 CL16 RAM and you should be able to reach 3600 CL18 easily (though staying at 3000 CL15 or 3200 CL16 is probably better performance wise)
Here's a Team kit for $126 + shipping on Newegg, a G.Skill kit for $130 + shipping or some more Corsair RAM for $135 on Amazon that almost certainly can clock to 3600 CL18. Save yourself the extra $55 or time from having to return it to Amazon when you discover it's CL18.
If you want real B-Die, I think this G.SKILL Ripjaws V kit is the cheapest for $193 + $6 shipping from Newegg with 14-14-14-34 timings at 3000mhz. You can clock it to 3600 CL16 fairly easily. Pay the extra $10 for real B-Die or wait till a eBay coupon if you want cheap B-Die.
To finish my build, I'm looking at:
ADATA XPG SX8200 480GB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3x4 NVMe (129.99)
https://m.canadacomputers.com/product.php?id=123218
EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G3, 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular (97.00 = 117.00-20 MIR)
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B005BE058W/ref=cm_cr_arp_mb_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8
These prices seem pretty good. I'm thinking at best it'll be $20 off the current price on BF/Cyber Monday. Do you guys think it's worth waiting? I want to save every penny.m
I don't know if it's the "best bang-for-your-buck" monitor you're looking for, but this is what I'm using and I really love it.
ViewSonic XG2401
It's currently out of stock on Amazon but usually sells for around $330. I think I bought it for $290 on sale but I know it's gone lower.
It's a TN monitor, 144 Hz, 24", and the stand allows it to tilt/rotate and is VESA ready.
I have it mounted on a VIVO dual monitor arm stand with a ViewSonic VA2459-SMH monitor.
Again, don't know if it's what you're looking for, but I thought I'd share.
Edit: Might also want to check out the XG2402. I believe that's the newer version of the XG2401. Around the same $330 price tag I think.
I'm building a new high end pc from the ground up. Should I be taking advantage of any of these sales? I feel like the mouse and power supply are automatic purchases but I'm a newbie so I wanted to see if I can get any help here first. Sorry if this is filling up the discussion post.
SSD
I read that the crucial's aren't good because once you reach 75% capacity it dramatically slows your pc down? Also, don't know if external SSDs are recommended but should I bite on that SanDisk?
Samsung 1TB 860 EVO
Crucial P1 1TB m.2 SSD
SanDisk 1TB Portable External SSD
Power Supply
Corsair RM850x, 850 Watt Gold Certified Fully Modular Power Supply
Cooler
I don't even know if I will need a coouler, and if I want to go liquid cooling route, and I don't care about RGB, but for a high end pc I'm assuming I should buy?
Corsair H115i RGB Platinum AIO Liquid CPU Cooler
Mouse
This seems like the best deal on a mouse no?
Logitech® MX Master 2S Wireless Mouse
RAM
Was actually looking for 32GB RAM, should I pass since if I go AMD mobo route, having to use more than 2 will cause a slowdown right?
Ballistix Elite 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR4 3600 MT/s
Looking at a few pieces for a new build and looking for some suggestions. Watching deals as we come up to black Friday.
Need GPU, CPU, Motherboard, RAM. Upgrading from a 2550k with a 970.
RAM -Just bought https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07FY13HZV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
GPU - looking at a 580 - afaik this price is excellent... 580 memory exp however since it's not listed on here, I'm not really sure about it. Looks good, but I expect this one to drop for BF in a few weeks.. Thoughts?
CPU - AMD 2600x seems to be the go to budget pick. Watching for this to go sub 190$?
Mobo - Little lost here.... Tomahawk, b450m b450a b450f. I'm watching the b450f, as I've seen it used in other builds. I'm thinking around 110$ would be awesome.
Just watching and waiting. Any suggestions or info is appreciated. Thanks.
This is the most popular one, YMMV on exact overclock, but Id wager that on most Zen2 CPUs and motherboards, this kit could clock 3600CL16 with better subtimings than the MFR kit, but that might depend on DDR4 overclocking skills.
The posted MFR kit is a better idea if you want a painless 3600CL16 for Ryzen without having to manually tweak.
Any personal experiences with BenQ monitors? I'm looking at the GW2765HT (27", 60Hz, 2560x1440). The BenQ ticks a number of boxes for me, and has good reviews. It's available on amazon.ca for $450 with prime shipping (which I have). Similarly priced at NCIX and Newegg.
My build has a Strix 970 GPU, Xeon 1231 CPU, 16GB RAM, Windows 10. The build is overall fine, I'd just like to move from dual 1920x1080s to a single larger display.
I'd be okay spending around $500 on a bigger and better monitor. With that in mind, does the BenQ look like a good option, or is there a similar alternative I should look at? Or should I be able to pony up more $?
I don't play FPS or competitive games. I do play Starcraft 2, Civ 5, Heroes of Might & Magic 5/6, and other assorted games from Steam and GoG. Would like to try Witcher which I read can be heavy. Outside gaming, I use PhpStorm, Visual Studio, Photoshop/Lightroom, and the typical browser, Office, email, Youtube etc.
Digging deeper into reviews on the BenQ reveals repeat issues with the displayport and display quality. Mybe that's not as great an option as I though. Been taking a look at the ASUS PB278Q which seems comparable, but also seems to have fewer issues in reviews.
I've been thinking about getting the BenQ GW2765HT, which is on sale for about 380 now on Amazon, but now I'm wondering if this is a better deal. The BenQ seems to be one of the best 27" IPS monitors in this price range, and even though it's 1440p I still wonder if it's a better choice.
Yes these are great for gaming, you can turn it into an awesome headset too with the [V-MODA BoomPro] (https://www.amazon.ca/V-MODA-BoomPro-Gaming-Headset-Headphone/dp/B00BJ17WKK)
Can't speak to this ram kit but for overclocking/value the Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200CL16 kit is still really good if you can get B-Die. It's $110 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B072LX99L9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Currently using it with my 3700x on B450 Pro Carbon AC. With minimal effort I've got it at 3733CL16 @ 1.35v, getting very good AIDA scores: https://imgur.com/dbgo0Iu

Yeah, a 1440p with those specs will likely run you a bit higher than $400. Have you considered FreeSync or G-Sync? I've heard that it makes a great impact on the experience, and some people say they won't game without it anymore. If you have an AMD card, this 1080p ViewSonic that has some of the best review in its class, and it's still on a decent sale. I just bought mine, should be getting it tomorrow.
I see that the Ryzen 5 2600 is on-sale at Amazon today... the best price I've seen is $225 (a week or so ago on NewEgg's eBay store), do you think this is the best price I'll get for this?
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07B41WS48/?tag=pcp0f-20
The one I have currently is the BenQ RL2455HM. Lots of people say it's very good and i'd have to agree with them as well. Also its only around 180-200ish dollars.
BenQ RL2455HM Linus Video &

And when I decide to get a 27inch monitor I'm going with BenQ GW2765HT 27 Ive heard some good things about it
Should I buy these or the Crucial Ballistix Sport LT AES kit to pair with a r5 3600? I know this is $30 cheaper but I heard the crucial kit can be overclocked to 3733mhz cl17 or 3600 cl16 which are supposedly the optimal configurations for ryzen 3000. Does the performance gains of the crucial kit justify the $30 price increase?
How does this compare to these at $219? Pretty sure these are the b-die versions of the LPX, at least I hope they are... cause they’re more expensive then the other 3200 LPX ones on amazon. is there any way to tell once I’ve received them?

Wow that is a pretty good deal. Ive been looking at the Gigabyte card as it does look a bit cheaper. Amazon has the windforce for $676 (https://www.amazon.ca/Gigabyte-GeForce-Windforce-GV-N1080WF3OC-8GD-Graphics/dp/B01IR6LMLO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1501738353&sr=8-3&keywords=gtx%2B1080&th=1). Ive heard EVGA is a bit better, but im hearing the other way as well.
At this price range, keep an eye out on Acer h257hu, Dell u2515h, and QNIX qx2710.
H257hu is g257hu's big brother with a much better stand and often goes on sale at Staples for $350 where you can usually find a $20 dollar off coupon from retailmenot.ca or emails promos.
The Dell uses the same panel as the 257hu's and allows VESA mounting. It is sold directly from Dell which sometimes have student discounts and larger rebates from ebates.
The QNIX is a 27" monitor shipped from Korea through eBay that can be overclocked a bit over 60hz. The price varies and is fairly cheap at times.
I'm not familiar with other models, I think the BenQs are pretty good and I can find them at $386 from Amazon.
Edit: I wouldn't trust the $320 from this greened shop seller with 20 ratings, pick amazon.
Can I install these ram on the original motherboard? These are 3200 ones.

Currently 196.99 CAD on amazon.caHurts my heart that it dropped twice in 12 hours after I paid for it and Amazon has no protection because they claim AMD is the actual retailer therefore giving customers a refund implies pricematching.PSA: Only one cpu per account.Love how they added that restriction AFTER I paid lol.
Edit: Canada Computers has a Ryzen 5 2600 for 189.99

I don't prefer buying from them but it could be a good source to price match with another etailer or retailer of choice.
Looking to sell these - used them for basic gaming for a few months and they work fine, just want to upgrade to 144hz gsync. What price do you guys think wouldn't be ridiculous? I'm hoping something like $275 each. Am I reaching?
I've been looking at this one for a bit it seems like a pretty good deal but I'm pretty new to all of this
Yes there is, it's at $170 right now with a $20 coupon to knock it down to $150. That's pretty good. There was a lighting deal on this last Friday that took it down to $145.
You have a mic already? Yeah you should be able to. A little pricy, but V-moda works great with audio-technica's if you don't.

Is it a great price though? Amazon is listing it at 185,88$ regular price. (164,99$ right now)

Still waiting for a prebuilt in canada that isn't dell and doesn't depend on a university student discount, if anyone has any leads on something that isn't in this sub let me know.
I did wind up picking up a logitech g502 though - it seems to be on sale everywhere so I'm not sure if its just one of those always on sale things. Its 44% off on amazon with prime shipping or you can try watching newegg where its 50% off but sold out. Anyhow, I didnt realize how toast the sensor on my old mouse was and this was the best impulse purchase I have made in a very long time.
Looking for a decent 144hz 1080p free sync, TN and either 24' or 27' now I have some in mind, should I just get the one that gets a good discount on black friday? I will use 90% for gaming and 10% for youtube and reddit.

If you can afford spending a bit more this XG2401 has the best colours for a 1080p 144Hz TN monitor
https://www.amazon.ca/ViewSonic-XG2401-FreeSync-Monitor-DisplayPort/dp/B01A0ZRR50
I think the normal price for this (Amazon etc.) is more like $430, if you have prime or perfer Amazon that's an option as well. So really it's $50 off.
I've been looking for a reasonably priced 1440p 27" without paying the premium for 144Hz, and it looks like this is the one I will land on.
I have an issue trying to buy a prime deal item. (https://www.amazon.ca/Crucial-1TB-NAND-NVMe-PCIe/dp/B07J2Q4SWZ/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&ref_=mh_s9_acsd_simh_b3cC8H5_c_x_2_w)

Whenever I try to actually add the item to cart and check out, at some point in the process it'll remove the prime deal and even remove it from my cart before I can make the payment. It'll come back randomly but it keeps doing it. Please help.
Just wanted to add as a FYI - This is effectively the same speed as 3200 CL16 and 3000 CL15 which have been seen at lower prices. Higher bandwidth won't result in much real world differences if price is a major concern here.
See: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/5d009u/i_made_a_simple_table_to_help_you_pick_out_what/
EDIT: I recently got the corsair 3200 CL16, which is same effective latency as mentioned above for ~$12 less. See amazon link: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B072LX99L9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_yI3xDbB3Y3164
Would folks recommend the XPG Gammix D10 3200MHz for $120 or this deal? Getting a Ryzen 5 2600 with a B450 motherboard (not sure which one yet). Thx.

Same price at amazon.ca (CDN$ 325.00 + FS) if you don't want to buy it from newegg.ca
You could also possibly PM with MemoryExpress, which has it for $369.99 at the moment.
I got this monitor for around the same price and I love it. Mainly wanted to see if 144hz would really make a difference when playing FPS, and found that you can really see how much smoother it is. I originally got the Acer GN246HL from the amazon.ca deal for $200 and compared the two side by side, but the ViewSonic XG2401 really blew it out of the water when it came to colour and the adjustable stand.
With more research I found that the XG2401 is a really solidly rated monitor, and I highly recommend it to people looking for a reasonably priced Freesync monitor with decent colour for a TN panel.
Also $150 but with free shipping on Amazon, temporarily out of stock though

My first thought is buying the BenQ GW2765HT (27", 1440, IPS, 4ms) from Amazon. Will the 4ms response time bother me?
My second thought is buying something like two BenQ GL2460HM (24", 1080, TN, 2ms)
Thoughts or suggestions? I'm open to other brands as well, not just BenQ.
Heads up. Same price on amazon with better return policy.

A few of the best options around that price! If you're willing to spend a bit more go for an Acer predator or the Benq Zowie.
In adding more ram, the most important detail is your current ram. You want them to be as close a match in performance as possible. If the cas latency, and timings line up, you'd likely be okay. But no guarantee. Compatibility it usually tested in matched sets.

So I'm currently running a Samsung 850 Evo 500gb and a crucial mx300 750gb for the storage in my drive. I'm reluctantly looking at getting a 2 or 3tb hard drive to throw in there to just settle storage issues for games. Initially I was looking at Wd blacks, but their extra cost and noise made it hard to choose.
Currently, I'm looking between the Seagate Firecuda 2tb for 132
https://www.amazon.ca/Seagate-ST2000DX002-FireCuda-Gaming-Hybrid/dp/B01IEKG2HM/ref=pd_cp_147_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=ZXB9PKGAP3G66JEQZ7VK
OR the 3tb seagate barracuda for 99

5 year warranty on the Firecuda is the biggest thing, but if I already have 2 ~1tb of game storage on ssd is the sshd drive going to be useful at all?
Best all-in price right now, though if module height scares you, this 3200MHz kit for 95$ is a good alternative.
Right? I need a larger monitor w. higher resolution for productivity/multitasking and watching HQ movies.

I just looked on Amazon and it is there. I went to the site and the price went up instantly but I found it to the right under compare offers on Amazon, just like OP mentions. Here is the link if it works, if not try what I just said. They are temporarily o.o.s atm.

I just bought the 2700x from the Amazon deal (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07B428M7F/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Made me finally decide to eventually retire my legendary i5-2500K.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a decent motherboard+memory for this CPU?
Note: I will be doing slight OC but not go too overboard. I just want to have a good/stable setup that'll last me a few years.
Thank you in advance.
Been in the same situation, where I have a favorite pair of headphones but no mic. Ended up buying a desktop mic instead (the CAD Audio u37). For in-game chat, the audio picked up is nowhere near the same as a mic on a headset. You will see a lot of ambient noise being picked up by most (all?) such microphones. See if you can add a mic to your headset - it will be worth it.

Seeing your post, I searched around for the mod-mic and ended up ordering the V-Moda Boom Pro, as my headphones have a 3.5mm input option.

Hope this helps.
You should choose the e-die micron that is found in the Ballistix sport LT, which can easily do 3733mhz CL16 - the absolute performance sweet spot for Ryzen 3xxx, according to AMD themselves.

Thinking about this vs the 2600. I want to upgrade my gfs PC and I wonder if the $55 difference is worth it. She does lots of design work with illustrator/photoshop/indesign and plays lots of games, but she's got a 60hz monitor and isn't bothered by >60fps. Right now she's using an old FX8350 or some fx8000 series amd card and sometimes she's dropping under 30-45fps playing low-medium settings with her 1060 3gb gpu.
What do you guys think?

I've got two of these and love them.
I was looking into these before I got my 1440p 144hz Dell monitor, and from what I found, people seem to think the XG2401 is the best option:

Amazon has it for $199
Edit: Not Amazon, some Third-party seller I never heard of from India. If you feel lucky and real cheap here you go
Oh I didn't realize the seller wasn't Adata. Adata never seems to charge tax when you buy directly from them. This deal is really quite cold then considering there are at least 3 drives that are cheaper on the market with similar or better specs.
I'd look at the Silicon Power P34A80 for $145 + tax as my first choice. The XPG Gamming S11 Pro is identical to tis one and should be $160 with no taxes on top. Though if you're putting it in a laptop, that heatsink is attached via thermal adhesive and won't fit in most laptops with it on. These aren't even BF prices. The WD is technically better than all of them but I'm not sure you'd notice a difference in day to day tasks.

Probably a better option. Decent price @ 124.99 from amazon.
It's also $100 on Amazon, which is a much better place to buy from. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01IEKG4NE/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&psc=1
If you end up with the viewsonic , get it on amazon or else you may never receive it. Avoid Tigerdirect like the plague.

While Amazon (Prime) is selling it for $300, make sure to double check you do not buy from the Just Launched sellers.
Thinking of picking up a new logitech wireless headset and wired gaming mouse. Are the following good prices?
Wireless headset $189.99:

Gaming mouse $70.90:

idk what the difference is but this one is $50 cheaper for what looks like the same specs. Also this one is g sync compatible

424.51 With Amazon Prime
I think you can price match this when it's on shelf at memory express. Although I definitely think $449 is the MSRP
Best deal is the $79.99 no tax XPG Gammix D10 3200MHz red, black.
