I think it's more interesting to buy parts from amazon.es right now. Example: The Samsung 850 EVO 250GB costs £55.71(~75€) + shipping from UK or 69,95€ + shipping from Spain.

Amazon Spain also offers discounted shipping fees for Portugual, Amazon UK does not. Especially on a budget, a 5-10€ difference due to shipping and currency conversion for each part counts.

CPU/Mobo: an i3-4160 (114€) + H81 mobo (57€) will be faster than an FX-6300 for gaming (unless you overclock it @5GHz).

HDD: a WD Blue 1TB (53€) is way more interesting than that slow laptop hard drive.

PSU: One of the best deals right now is the Cooler Master Semi modular 450W 80+ Bronze (49€)

These prices are likely to change in less than a week, maybe right after the week-end. Buy the ones that interest you the most as soon as you can (especially the SSD and the PSU).

Have you thought about getting an Intel CPU? You will have a better upgrade path if you choose to upgrade later on. Compared to your AMD CPU and GeForce GPU, I prefer a Intel CPU and Radeon GPU lineup myself, but YMMV.

I don't need lots of cores that AMD CPUs provide, and prefer having strong individual cores, so Intel CPUs are up my alley. As for GPU quality, check out videos on YouTube comparing 950/960s to 380/390s, of games you want to play, which is what I did. It can help if you find someone with similar/same build as you.

For example, if you dropped the 860k and spent £90, Amazon.uk has a i3-4160, which is a great budget CPU, and later on you can upgrade to the i5/i7 easily.

Also, the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD is only £58, and the quality of life you gain from an SSD is hard to pass up. You can easily drop your HDD and spend the extra to get the SSD now, so you can buy a regular HDD in a month or two if you can afford it, unless you absolutely need the space for video editing in which case a regular HDD is likely best. The SSD won't effect gaming on the level of a good CPU or GPU, so consider it a luxury. A very nice luxury.

Am I right in thinking there is no difference between these two processors other than the price?

Yeah that's a decent build. There is an i3-4160 on amazon for a bit cheaper than the i3-4150 here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-i3-4160-Processor-3-60GHz-Socket/dp/B00M0F0PR6/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1419428356&sr=1-1&keywords=4160

PCpartpicker doesn't have it listed on their website and I'm not sure why, but I'm about to buy the i3-4160 as well. There is only 0.1GHz difference between them, but it is cheaper so why not.

edit: Btw you may need to perform a bios update (which will likely require another CPU to perform) on any motherboards other than a H97 chipset one because the i3 4150 and 4160 are haswell refresh CPUs. I'm buying a H97 chipset so I don't have to deal with that but it's up to you.

It really is a rabbit hole :D

Hm, didn't know that. However, doesn't Kodi support pretty much all the common formats? Could I not use one of those cheap servers for a theoretical double 4K stream? All possible end devices should be able to keep up (My gaming monster, and two macbooks, both more recent than 2017).

I've just remembered I might have some old hardware lying around in Spain: i3-4160, a R9 280, a 500W PSU, and a MSI Motherboard - Not sure how well they are doing, haven't been down there in 15 months, and I wouldn't know how to get them up here...

This is the absolute cheapest build that can run games at decent settings at 900p/1080p.I wouldn't recommend going any lower than these specs.

Processor : i3 4160 / i3 4150

Motherboard : (Any lga 1150 mobo will do) [Asus h81m cs]

Ram : (Any 8 GB DDR 3) [Crucial 8gb]

PSU : [Corsair VS450]
(https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B00X8QBT6M/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AWO781LMQ8MJ4) (450 watts atleast , though you may want to upgrade. Buy only from trusted vendors like corsair even though there are cheaper options because they might not be the safest.)

Graphics Card : RX 460 or GTX 1050 (I wouldn't recommend 750 Ti or even anything lower than these two.)

HDD : (Depends on your usage) [WD Blue 1 TB]
