Yes! I Iive by myself and I like having the lights on timers just for security purposes (looks like someone's home even if I'm gone). Switched out my porch lights for smart bulbs and have a living room lamp plugged into a smart plug. They're on a timed schedule. I have another in my bedroom so I don't even have to reach up and turn on the lamp! The ultimate in lazy :)

I have a whole house fan connected to a TP-Link outlet and have not had any issues. As far as current goes, I have the same outlet connected to an electric fireplace in the winter (1500 watts) and it's fine.

I just ordered the TP-Link HS-105 Smart Plug Mini (2-Pack). I plan to use one on a floor lamp and the other on a table fan.

I have TP-Link switches and plugs that can be setup to turn on/off at certain times and even put on timers through the TP-Link KASA app. They are my first smart home items, besides the Echo and Dots, and I don't have any complaints yet except I want more.

Would a smart plug work? It's just a wifi connected outlet that you can plug anything into and have it turn on and off.

I tried a Belkin Wemo version for a couple weeks, but ended up returning it. It worked great integrating with Google Home - "Hey Google, turn on/off the Office Lights" worked flawlessly - but the Belkin version apparently has a common problem with finding Wi-Fi. (The smart plug was 5 feet away from my Asus router with clear line of sight and couldn't find a signal most of the time. Usually 10-20 resets before it would finally find my network and then it stayed connected no problem. But anything that would cause the connection to drop - power outage, firmware update - gone again. Go back into settings and start over) However, no harm in trying it out - you might have a Wi-Fi router/wireless network that the Belkin likes.

Gonna try again with the TP-Link version, which also integrates with Google Home, but waiting to see if there are any sales this week.
