I originally put a 7 gal Aqua-tainer in my current van, thinking I'd use it to store drinking and cooking water, and knowing at that time that I can take 2.5 gal showers. Over time, I realized not only that I don't drink that much darned water, but that I don't even like the taste of most water I was finding to fill up with, and would rather be drinking spring water purchased from the store, a gallon of which lasts me at least a week. So, I resolved to switch the Aqua-tainer's purposes strictly for washing things, particularly myself, and have found that I can squeeze 4 showers out of a fill-up if I put the unused water back when done.
To fill in why that's a thing, I have one of these that I got, being the simplest option I saw, figuring I'd get additional use out of it while kayak camping. Well, it's simply not worth bringing along on the kayak, and the pump end doesn't fit in the mouth of the Aqua-tainer. So, I fill a dry bag with water from the Aqua-tainer, then tote it around to the back, where I wedge open the doors with a PVC stick that acts as a shower curtain rod, and just clean up there, fully-naked as I would in a regular shower, at least when I'm out in the boonies, and situated >100' from a waterway, with plenty of green plants around to filter the grey water I'm dropping. If I were to buy that camp shower again today with the experience I have now, I'd go for the slightly different version of it like this. The pump end is smaller, and the switch is remote, so it could be semi-permanently installed in a cheap water jug, but is still portable enough to take on a larger-group camp outing away from the van.
That's in the boonies. By the beach, people rinse off in the parking lot all the time. I just keep swim trunks on and do my thing in full view, and nobody bats an eye. Anything in-between is a city with a Planet Fitness.
