It should not do any harm to your batteries, the MFLB charger should do "intelligent" charging (charges batteries until they are full, then switch to maintainance charge). But I would recommend a professional charger (link below). Those chargers are faster (up to 1000 mA of charging, should get your batteries recharged in about two hours if they are completely drained), they manage voltage for every single battery, they have maintainence and refresh programs and the will monitor the temperature of the batteries. I use those chargers mainly for my batteries of photo equipment.

Speaking of batteries, snagged myself these batteries and this charger two or so years ago.

I don't remember life before rechargeable batteries. I can't believe it took me so long to get on that train. Would recommend anyone to do so as well if you haven't already.

Panasonic BQ-4C - Very similar to what my dad bought in the late 90s when he wanted to get into rechargeables. He gave up a few years after, thank goodness Ni-MH batteries came out. I bought this to recover batteries that had been depleted too much for my BC1000 to see. I haven't had a chance to test this on the XTAR but it advertises it can charge completely dead batteries which is nice.
La Crosse BC1000 - I got into the Eneloop batteries in 2013 or so and I haven't looked back. I have way more AAA than I need but that's ok.
XTAR VC2+ - Bought this recently when I ordered 18650 batteries. I doubt I'll be using either of the other two chargers as much since this thing charges them all. I only use chargers for smartphones so I can only charge .5A right now (which is fine by me) but I should probably upgrade in case if I need to charge fast.

Check out this review. It's not the worst in the world, but if you're buying the best batteries, you might also consider buying the best charger, which is either this one or this one.

La Crosse BC-1000 I have had a few different chargers and this is by far the best I have seen. It charges, tests, and also reconditions older batteries.

I have had good luck with the La Crosse batteries that came with my charger and decent results with Powerizer batteries (a few failures, but I have also had them much longer)

I use eneloop batteries too. The 2100 ones. I noticed that when I plug in a headset to directly to the controller it definitely uses the battery faster. I have about 12 AA's in rotation to maximize battery life. I coupled them with La Crosse Technology BC1000 Alpha Power Battery Charger and it's pretty awesome. I can set how fast I want them to charge, or even discharge them fully and recharge to prevent "memory" issues.

I personally use rechargeable batteries. You need to have a charger able to charge each battery independently, as this one for instance: https://www.amazon.com/Crosse-Technology-BC1000-Battery-Charger/dp/B004J6DLD4/ref=dp_ob_title_ce

Then you need high quality battery, like the Panasonic Eneloop Pro (17 USD on Amazon for a pack of 4), which makes 51 USD to have two sets of battery.

If you don't have problems to buy chinese stuffs, I highly recommend those ones: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-rechargeable-battery-aa-2550mah-nimh.html.

Only 1.5$ a battery, and those are real 2550 mAh batteries. You must add the shipping costs and maybe customs, so it's up to you, but I was really astonished by the capacity of those batteries.

Is it just a cord that plugs in, or a cord with a transformer on it? I have read alot of good things about the BC-9009. What about the BC-1000?
