The scariest incident I ever had, personally, was when I was telling my kids a spooky story before bed, and I had the sudden absolute certainty that someone was staring at me. I looked across the bedroom and saw a face, as if an elderly woman was laying on a bed directly across from ours, staring straight at me with wide, startled eyes. I looked away and tried to ignore the feeling of being watched, figuring it was a trick of the light or my mind. When I told my husband about it, he said "Oh yeah, my grandma died in that room. Her bed was right up against the wall opposite where ours is."

My story: A few months ago, a waterspout struck right near where I work (a college library)and came on land. When the siren went off, it was my responsibility to secure the library and bring all students downstairs into the center part of the building. It's always terrifying trying to remain calm while moving large groups of people and running protective actions. We were locked down for about an hour. During this time, my wonderful librarians pulled out all the games we use for freshmen orientation. The students actually had a fair amount of fun bowling in the book stacks and seeing who could hoolahoop the longest. I think they even set up the sticky darts. In the end, there was minimal damage done to the area and the students claimed it was better than going to class. :)
