I asked a question in here a bit ago, but the specifics of what I am looking for have now changed a bit. The keyboard is for my spouse, and I showed them the GMMK as everyone keeps pointing me to it even though it has LEDs, and I said we could just turn the LEDs off. Apparently now they like the idea of the LEDs and we are in search of a particular kind of keycap for the board.
I am looking for blank keycaps (no letters or symbols of any kind) that are solid black on the sides and frosted translucent on the top, preferably a translucent black/gray color so they look nice with the LEDs off as well. This is the right idea but with no letters on the sides. Frosted clear (whitish) tops with black sides would be an acceptable 2nd choice.
My only thought right now is to get these black translucent keycaps and "paint" the tops with acetone to frost them, then paint the inside of the sides of the keycaps with black paint to make light not shine through. Does anyone know of a reason that would not work?
