Personally, I got and prefer this, since it lets me plug into a computer and read the microsd card from there as well.

Also, the added benefit of not having to worry about losing the microsd card!

I have this one and it works well. You can use your own microsd cards. I'm using a sandisk 128gb w/ no problems.

Not sure about the hard-wire connection, but streaming through Chromecast is always an option.

EDIT: For the USB flashdrive, I picked up one of these. It works great and just needs a reformat once you stick it into the device (From a Nexus 6P at least).

I bought a micro-sd card adapter for USB Type-C and USB Type-A Male.

I also picked up an USB OTG connecter USB Type-C to Type-A Female. Both are very useful

I bought this guy on Amazon. It uses a micro SD card which I preferred since I have so many lying around from over the years, which might not be as convenient for you as it was for me.

Works great though and is nicely compact to boot

Maybe download OpenSignal 3G 4G WiFi Maps and Speed Test and use it while you are out and about on tours and such. You never know if someone has discovered an open WiFi access point and mapped it before. I'd invest in a VPN service of some sort though if I were going to use any "open" WiFi.

That said, a USB-C flash drive is an excellent alternative if you need to offload some of those 4k movies that take up so much space. This is what I got:

I use this thing and it is pretty sweet.

I have this flash drive and this cable and they both work wonderfully.

Ignore the pictures in the second link. That's not what it looks like. It's just a USB cable with USB-C on one end and USB female on the other.

There's also this which is a dual USB-C, USB-A flash drive but with the added bonus of using micro SD cards. So if you wanna expand in the future you can slap a 64GB in there now, a 200GB later, and so on and so on. Haven't personally used it though.

Probably either the adapter or the device. (not the phone, the thing you're plugging in) I've got one of these and it works fine on my 5x.

I do NOT yet own this, but I plan on getting one soon, just haven't needed it yet. It takes a microsd card, so that's nice to be able to upgrade it, swap cards out, etc. I have a similar one from Kingston that's MicroUSB that I've used for several years on a Flo and a G2 and I like the small compact design.. It, and another tiny flash drive, lives in my headphone case which I have available all the time.
