I find it very hard that across four months you could not have found the ability to get a new/different set of decent cans if you REALLY wanted to and if music is REALLY that important to you.

  • You could work more.
  • You could ask a friend to loan you a pair.
  • You could tell your family you really need a good set of headphones. Maybe a birthday or Christmas gift.
  • You could sell things you already own.

You're so worried about his actions but if you were actually going to NGAF you should be more concerned with your own first.

This headset is a pretty good head set; it's from Microsoft, it's inexpensive, works as plug-n-play in Win 7 and OSX. It blocks sound well, has great thundery bass without being muddy and the mic is pretty sensitive without being too much so.

    The headset also costs $25.

I've been using the Lifechat LX-3000 for a couple years now. It's been solid and it works really well. It is well below your budget so I don't know if you want something better, but you can't beat this for it's price point.

I used either Audacity or Adobe Audition and a Samson Go mic.

For most of them anyway. Some are older. For those I used a Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000 headset.

Microsoft LX-3000 (on sale right now, too!) is really awesome for the price. Should fit even petite heads rather nicely. Side benefit: better sounding mic quality than a lot of headsets in the $100 range.

I'm a big fan of the Microsoft LiveChat LX-3000

I've been using mine for almost a year now with no trouble and a friend of mine has been using his for several years.

Unless you're really attached to your headphones, I always recommend Microsoft's LifeChat. Very inexpensive and the mic and sound is perfect for gaming. I've used these for about 8 years from raiding WoW to Dota to Skype to Steam, they're great. I replaced the first pair after about 5 or 6 years because I used them constantly and the ear pads started flaking, but that's the only problem I've ever had.

I use a Microsoft LX-3000 USB headset, and couldn't be happier. It sounds great for both chat and music (when compared to other sub-$100 headphones), friends report the mic sounds clear, and most importantly it is super-comfortable for hours on end.

I use windows only, but a quick google reveals it works fine with mac.

I use this microsoft headset and I think it's great.

It's provided at my work, and I bought myself one for my second job from home. Only $25.

If you are paying $30 for a headset, durability is something you definately will not be getting. If you want to go below the $30 level, you may as well just get an extraordinarily cheap one and just replace it when it breaks. However, the Microsoft live headset is hear is a very good USB headset from what the people I use skype with say and it is unde ryour $30 limit. I would recommend however going up in price as the actual sound back is pitiful, just a decent mic I suppose. If you wanna look through some more, just use this and read the reviews of each mic.

I would probably suggest a blue snowball but those can get costly. What I used in the LX-3000 from microsoft in the past and that worked quite well for me.

Mow some lawns, you'll get it in a weekend!

Not a member of the guild but i'd like to give a helping hand.
In my experience gaming headsets have great speakers but not so much can be said about most mics.
microsoft lifechat lx 3000 headset i use has to have the best mic for its price and beats some of the higher tier gaming headsets in costs.
However, not for music use, good for talking and all that but for base and movie use, i would not recommend it.
For reference, we use these at my last work place when talking to customers in customer support, it is more or less built for that purpose but as i said, not that good sound.

It goes for 27$ on amazon

I use a Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000.

I know it's not pretty or some super gaming brand like everyone seems to think you need, but I've had it for like half a year so far with nothing broken, no issues, no hints of any connections becoming weak and I've stepped on them at least a few times already. just a tip, don't buy because of the brand, buy it for it's reliability.

I have that. It's a usb headphone and works really well for skype calls. I brought it offline for about 2500/- a few years back(4+).

I've had 2 pairs of these & they work great. Only complaint is that there is no cushion for the top of your head. https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-JUG-00001-LifeChat-LX-3000-Headset/dp/B000J4WPW8

I just use a cheapo headset since that's easier to take with me on the go. I got them on sale, like my gaming mouse. Combined it was like 20$ spent. Well worth it IMO. Extra mouse buttons and the ability to easily chat (both through the game and through steam) make the game way better.

u/ItsMylesNotMiles · 1 pointr/AskReddit

I use these when you install the software you can adjust the volume per side. Hope this helps!

Like others have said, you won't find any good ones under 50~ bucks. My advice is to save up your money and check out /r/headphones, but if you absolutely must have a headset for 25 bucks get a Microsoft LX-3000 they're cheap and will get the job done.

I had a pair that lasted me 2 years or so before the leather on the pads starts to wear down.
