The Sas breakout does fit on the front side of the motherboard. Be sure to fit it between in the channel between the back side of the 2nd CPU riser and what i believe is the Fan power connector. There is a cable routed thru there already, just be careful.

There is an unused Molex connector that i added the splitter to. Works fine.
