Get some tire liners. They will reduce flats significantly.
NO GREEN GOO. I have tried those. It only works for small small hole, and it ruins the valve. When you have to replace the tube on the road, the tube doesn't fold very well because the goo inside.
You need to invest in better tires, and use tire liners. For the tire, kevler reinforced tires. Panaracer RiBMo PT, Schwalbe marathon plus, Continental Top Contact II, and lesser degree GatorSkin.
