Alternatively, buy one of these and imagine that you're awesome enough to build one yourself. Not nearly as satisfying, but much less work.

Edit 2: If I was in the market for a standing desk today I wouldn't buy the WorkFit-S HD. It was a fine choice back when I bought it but these days you can get a nice frame for less:

Not sure what your budget is but you can buy standing desk frames. The frames allow you to install your own table top. Take a look at:

Like i said, it will depend on budget but this is one option.
