This sounds a lot like another story about an ATF undercover, another agent wrote ["No Angel"]{http://www.amazon.com/No-Angel-Harrowing-Undercover-Journey/dp/0307405869/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1299275025&sr=8-1} which covers his time as an ATF undercover in Arizona. He infiltrated the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club by posing as a member of another, smaller. motorcycle club. His cover role was that he worked collections for a casino and dealt guns in his off time. He bought and sold many guns throughout the course of the case, and made a few trips down to Mexico because the club he was "representing" was originally from Mexico and he had to go to their headquarters and meet their president.
In both cases you have US government agents covertly entering Mexico with the intention of committing crimes. Disgusting. No Angel is an interesting read by the way, and not to give away the ending but it sucks.
Also
While we're on the subject of the vest, and tying into what someone else said about this looking like a sons of anarchy cosplay - it looks too store-bought and well-kept for metal. Losing some of the patches will help, but also - and this is going to sound extreme, but believe me - throwing some dirt on it, running it over with a car, whatever you have to do to break it in and look like you actually dress like this on a daily basis rather than only when you "feel like being metal." If you're going to do a metal look, you have to actually be it. No weekend warrior stuff.
I say this as someone who's read all kinds of autobiographies from people formerly in motorcycle clubs and cops who went undercover in them. The first tip off to clubs that someone might be a cop is when their cut is too immaculate. I'm not exaggerating when I say run it over with your car; there are stories of cops doing exactly this out of desperation to not be called a fraud. The same would hold true with fellow metalheads who would look at that and assume you bought it off the rack the day before. You need wear to show this isn't your first time.
Also, agree with the other guy. Lose the sons shirt. Something about a sons shirt with a vest that makes it look like you're only doing this because you enjoy the show. It shouldn't look like a trend. It should look like your lifestyle.

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry into Values by Robert M. Pirsig - Still my favorite. A high school english teacher bought it for me when he found out I had just passed my motorcycle road test. I've read it at least 15 times, and get something new from it each time.
But the best recommendation - Buy the FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL for your bike and read it. Read it often, until you can almost turn to the exact page for each procedure.
I read the book "No Angel" a few years back it taught me a lot about this world. It's about an undercover ATF agent that penetrates the Hell's Angels. Personally I really liked it, but the ending will piss you off.
Oh! Were doing biker book suggestions! I can help! The range from undercover cops to actual members.
I've read these already
These are ones I've ordered and they're getting here this week:
