I'm torn. Been researching for a while now, and I don't know which GPU to recommend. On one hand, we have the professional Quadro 4000 which is awesome in maya , on the other hand I can't find any reliable benchmarks on its performance with the adobe suite. From what I hear, Adobe supports OpenCL in CS6, which seems to indicate the quadro would do great, but I still wonder if a 780Ti wouldn't be the safest choice. I think you should try and find some reliable infos on Adobe forum (or at your uni) before you make a purchase, I tried but can't find it. Also if gaming is at all a factor, the quadro will be utter shit compared to a 780Ti.

Quadro 4000 $525

GTX 780Ti $450

The GeForce unit is the way to go unless it has no drivers for Linux. I live with Linux and UNIX all the time.
