Just buy a mechanical pencil and 40 refills for a grand total of £6.12

EDIT:

I am assuming your calculations are for HB pencils, you can easily reduce the number of pencils used by opting for a slightly harder lead like 2H. It is not as smooth to write with as a soft B or 2B but will definitely last much longer.

EDIT 2:

Woodcase pencils are less efficient because sharpening also reduces the amount of writing graphite. Sharpening is not necessary for mechanical pencils.

EDIT 3:

Ammendment to EDIT 2: 2mm Lead Clutch pencils are technically mechanical pencils and do require sharpening. I should have clarified I was referring to the standard sizes of 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 0.9 (mm) mechanical pencils.

EDIT 4:

I only included links to Pentel pencil and lead, I am not shilling for Pentel. Other brands are available.

Buy this pen: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pentel-Mechanical-Pencil-Black-Barrel/dp/B002HN26F0 and take out its clip. Although I tried some other cheap pens before disposing beautiful pentel , nothing fits perfectly than this one.

"Unless wariness be used, as good almost kill a man as kill a good book; he who kills a man kills a reasonable creature, God's image; but he who destroys a good book, kills reason itself, kills the image of God, as it were in the eye." From John Milton's Areopagitica.

What kind of problems are you having with it, maybe someone can help. If you're having lead breakage problems, then it's most likely that the tip has been bent.

An inexpensive and durable pencil is the Pentel P205/P207 (It's the most popular mechanical pencil), it's light enough that dropping it will rarely bend the tip.

Pentel p205; the canonical technical person's mechanical pencil.

I've seen this combination for a more durable environment solution. It requires removing the stand.

I personally use the Apple Silicone cover only due to the fact I purchased it before the Smart Keyboard and Pencil.

For the Apple Pencil I use a clip of a common Pentel Sharp P205 I had lying around. Sometimes I will clip it to the keyboard and other time it is clipped into my pack.
