The hyper X clouds are the only ones that get decent reviews in teams of headphone quality and their mics are fairly good as well. The difference is if you spend a tiny bit more money you can get a modmic and a pair of actually good headphones.
And if you are on a massive budget Something like these are a far better use of your money. They perform about the same as the razer,Steelseries and logitech ones for half the price.
I have these. Used for about a month, still in box.

It's my old headset as I was having trouble with the Hyper X Cloud 2 microphone that I purchased so am having to return it. The way it is hung up is with a magnetic cable management puck that NZXT provide with the S340 elite case. I was surprised how useful I found it!

For £15 there isn't much that will sound better than a laptop microphone, but on Amazon right now, this headset is on sale. It is owned by a friend of mine who doesn't like to buy expensive things and it doesn't sound awful. It's definitely better than any laptop microphone I have heard.
I don't know if this will help or if he had headphones/headset already, but I think it's the best option.
I run Plantronics Gamecom 388 and they are awesome. ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Plantronics-GameCom-3-5mm-Gaming-Headset/dp/B00LNK4SJA ) If you are wearing glasses, they might be uncomfortable for a while, but once they break in, they are good.

About to buy the Monoprice+Zalman combo, just want last opinion on the Plantronics.
I would suggest buying a plantronics, I was never disappointed and they don't seem to break. (I destroy headsets very quickly):D
