Well, if you want to play a Pokemon game and learn more about it, you could always buy a 3DS or 2DS and pick up one of the newer games, but if you don't have the money, then you could always play a rom or watch a playthrough on YouTube.

Here's a couple pretty cheap listings for a console and all of the newer games (Gen 6) if you're intirested: 2DS

Pokemon X

Pokemon Y

Pokemon Omega Ruby

Pokemon Alpha Sapphire

But, like I said, if you're not interested in spending money, there's lots of free options to learn about Pokemon as well.

There's one more resource I'd like to link, here's the official Pokedex, so you can see and learn about every Pokemon, old and new: Pokedex

He wants Pokemon. More than anything. He told me.

EDIT: AND WHO DOESN'T

Amazon currently sells this model of 3DS XL for $185 + Free shipping.

As others noted, until recently Pokemon X or Y was free with the purchase of a 3DS, but even if we add in the current price of Pokemon Y on Amazon ($32), buying both on Amazon works out to $217 with free shipping - beating Fry's' price by $3.

You could buy him a tin or two like these

Or be super awesome and buy him something like this but this box is really only worth it if he actually plays the TCG. If he just collects the cards, stick with these- booster packs.

And every kid needs a binder to put their cards in!

If your son does not know how to play the card game but would like to learn how to you could get him this.

Or you could be the best mom ever and get him a 2ds, 3ds or 3ds XL and a copy of pokemon X or Y!

Pokemon Y is also $19.99

Here's a little story about me and Pokemon. I loved pokemon so much as a kid that I knew all the pokeraps at one point and could not stop talking about it. I had to work neighborhood jobs for a very, very long time so that I could save up for a gameboy and a pokemon game. When I finally walked to the swapmeet that one Saturday morning (I skipped cartoons for this) and finally bought a gameboy pocket (it was yellow), I was ecstatic. From there, I RAN to the nearest Target store and went straight to the video games section. I originally wanted Pokemon Blue but it was sold out. However, they did have Pokemon Red and there was a dragon on it! SWEET! I paid for it with my hard earned money, opened it up right there, and put it in and pressed on.... nothing happened. there were no batteries :( I rushed over and found the cheapest pack of batteries I could find and used my money I was saving for lunch that day to pay for it. NOW, I had batteries in the gameboy, pokemon red in the cartridge slot, and pressed on.. The word gameboy popped up, a little star flew by and it said Gamefreak, and then the pokemon music turned on, a gengar and a nidorino were fighting, and I cried. I cried so hard right at that moment because finally, finally after everything I had done, I could play Pokemon.

This is one of my most memorable gaming/pokemon memories and should give you an idea of how much I love both. Although I don't need it, I would really like Pokemon Y! Although I'm much older now, My love for pokemon hasn't changed.

If not, C'mon...gimme a $20 Amazon giftcard so I can get Animal Crossing: New Leaf and play that until pokemon comes out!

Also, thank you to the both of you for being so kind and generous all the time. I often see your names in this sub being amazing and ridiculously sweet. /u/186394 your video was hilarious! and /u/rasta2645 I said i'd remember you a long time ago.. i definitely haven't forgotten! Hope you guys have great days!

I love /u/Erok21. I can barely comprehend how much he and his bots do for this place. It's really impressive. Without him this place wouldn't run even remotely as smooth as it does.

I want him to have Pokemon Y, because EVERYONE NEEDS POKEMON X/Y. I need it, you need it, he needs it, your best friend needs it, my cat needs it. Everyone. Needs it.

I agree with /u/Seamus9999. The most recent "generation" of Pokémon games are the most accessible they have ever been, and they are a great place for new players to start. You would be fine picking Pokémon X, Y, Omega Ruby, or Alpha Sapphire.

Pokémon X (currently $35.68)

Pokémon Y (currently $33.83)

Pokémon Omega Ruby (currently $39.99)

Pokémon Alpha Sapphire (currently $39.99)

Ok, let's truly see how much that would have cost you in reality.

By going through your post history I found this lovely graduation photo of what I presume to be you.

Now with that, along with this article from the LA times, we can guess that you will make around $2.3 Million in your lifetime. However, that information is a little dated since it is using data from 1999 graduates. So, for the sake of inflation and because I assume you have a good job, let's round that to $3 Million.

Now, it is just simple math. $3,000,000 x .25 = $750,000.

So, if that was a true saying, you just spent $750,000 on a $20 plushie.

To put that in perspective, you can buy a lot of things with $750,000. Some of these things include:

Well I would love a preorder of Pokemon Y but I am not sure if a preorder type thing is really practical for this so an alternative is a hard drive for my 360. I want to say I really respect what you are doing (by this i mean the contest and of course your service), while it is something that always seemed to interest me I can't imagine myself ever doing it so thank you so much!

I need to give my nephew that I help out with a birthday present, which is on Halloween (oct. 31st)

this would help a lot. He would be very excited. Or this...

I just realized;
---

US 3DS price: $169

UK 3DS price: $223.62 (140 GBP approx)

---

US 2DS price: $130

UK 2DS price: $175 (110 GBP approx)

---

US Pokemon Y price: $40

UK Pokemon Y price: $55.90 (35 GBP approx)

---

It may be worth importing from the U.S. instead of the U.K. (my home country and much more convenient)... I knew it was cheaper, but I didn't realize just how much.

/u/Sp3cia1K! She does a lot for the sub, and is generally a great person. Picking this from her 3DS list so she can join in with everyone!

This is absolutely amazing! I would LOVE to get Pokemon Y for my SO. Our 5 year anniversary just passed on October 2nd and I wish I could have gotten him this. As a freelance artist, I never really feel like I ever make enough to get him anything brand new, so I would love to do this.

This is an amazing contest! Thank you!

Well, almost all Pokemon games have been on some kind of sale recently.

u/Nickcomstock · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Haven't had a pokemon game (or any game really :p) on release date for a long time. Actually had to sell my old DS a while back, but with the release of the 2DS, I was VERY interested, and can definitely say that this would push me to go grab one :p I've played up to Black on Roms, so I'm almost caught up in the series. Good Luck to everyone!

Sorry Torchic (favorite starter), but I Choose you Gardevoir!!!!

Just checked.

Current prices from Amazon US and ebay US in USD. Summer 2016.

[Y Version](https://amzn.com/B00KI2OZ9M) and Omega Ruby are roughly the same price as when they launched at $39.99. If anything they're a few dollars cheaper due to slight age and price fluctuation.

But a game like Black Version 2 is about $60 new and $45 used. It is a last gen game and no longer in production.

And finally the worst example, and the game that many people want to play, is the English version of HeartGold and SoulSilver. Price fluctuates around $100 for new and used English games.

Amazon /// ebay

Japanese imported versions are much cheaper, $30 on Amazon. Sadly, only the current gen of Pokemon Games has language options. For the other 5 generations you need to buy the game in your language; or learn Japanese.

XY were the better games IMO, they don't have the megaevolutions introduced in ORAS but they have better content, plus they have trainer customization which was removed from ORAS. also amazon has Pokemon Y for under 34.00 atm

This would be cool. thank you hope you have fun!
