Aww yess.

There are dozens of us, brother.

Yes, I get weird looks. Yes, it can be a bit jarring when I start using it on top of my laptop, especially on a plane. But I never find myself more productive than I am on a plane with no wifi but a mechanical keyboard. I write so much, it's awesome.

Nice hack with the wood! I too use Karabiner to disable the built-in keyboard when I have this fat guy on top of it. It works fairly well.

I combine this right-angle type C adapter with this super-tiny 6-ish C-C cable, in order to end up with a nice clean look that doesn't take up much space at all.

I might explore more and see if I can find any right angle adapters that shoot straight up to get rid of even this loop.

LPT: These are life-changing amounts of awesome:

Have you considered something like this?

A 90 degree adapter for USB-C to USB-C so you can use a normal A to C cable then just change to 90 at the end.

Or maybe this one where the 90 degree makes the cable lead to the back/front of your head?

Just attach twist-tie the wire to the headset strap so it doesn't pull on the port and you'll (probably) be fine.

Or get a couple of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071XHQJG8 Adapters are very short so they shouldn't interfere with the signal at all.

Same here, it works well. You can also pick up this right angle jack from amazon to make it a little sleeker. I place my closed x1c5 right in front of the dock, works well.

I use this cord https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012V56D2A/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and this elbow https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071XHQJG8/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and it makes it so my s8 fits with the door closed with just a bit of room. Pixel XL is .2 inches bigger than my phone (assuming no case), so it would probably be verrrry close.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a working right-angle USB-C adapter? This one doesn't seem to work, I just end up in a loop with the "Enable Link?" dialog in the Quest. I'm using the recommended Anker cable

Edit: I'm in the US

Those are the cables: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TPYSLBN/

I used the 1ft (30cm) one which is included.

And the adapters are a combination of those:

How about just using this with your cable?

EDIT: Ooops! C&P'd from the wrong tab. u/Neverwrong got the right one.

To make up for my error, have some 90^o C-to-C adapters:
