I bought some gorgeous chunky cork tiles and used Super 77 spray adhesive to attach them to my wall. They're great, and the tiles are thicker than what you get on a bulletin board so my tacks aren't falling out all the time. These are similar. I've used Super 77 on lots of projects, and that stuff is pretty solid. My tiles haven't budged in the 2 years they've been in place. I've removed it from some surfaces using Goof Off, but it's a solvent, so it can sort of melt some paints. No problem if you're willing to repaint the concrete wall when you move out or when your parents sell.

I installed these cork tiles behind my board, in a 3x3 grid. The main reason was to mask and prevent further holes in the basement drywall (I suck). Noise reduction was an unexpected bonus. It's a Unicorn Eclipse Pro board, with the mounting bracket installed on top of the cork. I've been pretty happy with the setup thus far, although the included adhesive strips were inadequate. Accurate shots are mostly inaudible on the main floor of the house.
