I was thinking maybe some kind of wall storage, because the most I ever wore jewelry was when I was in a dorm in college, and I covered my corkboard walls in my jewelry hung up on push-pins; but you mentioned your daughter not being able to get into it so maybe some kind of locking bulletin case. something like this?

    Recipe so far:

  • Using thin self adhesive cork that I pulled apart while setting down on the bases. (https://www.amazon.com/Board-Dudes-Hobby-Adhesive-CYC90/dp/B0079XLR3A/)
  • Coat the cork with thinned PVA glue (or matte varnish).
  • Prime Flatt Black. I used Rustoleum Camo Black my goto cheap black for terrain.
  • Medium dry brushing of Dawnstone all over. Spots of Heavy dry brushing.
  • Light Drybrush of Longbeard Grey. Spots of medium dry brushing.
  • Thin coat of Nuln Oil to blend it together a bit.
  • Agrellan Earth in the cracks and on the edges.
  • Make Stencils out of thin cardboard (I used paper plates).
  • Using the stencils, sponge on Averland Sunset or cottage cheese ... aka Ceramite White
  • TBD Agrax Earthshade on the Agrellan Earth
  • TBD Cleanup edge with either Abaddon Black, Zandri Dust or maybe Steel Legion Drab. Haven't decided yet. Open to suggestions.
  • TBD Grass Tufts and Skulls.

If you have a local shop that sells model train supplies, you can get a wealth of inexpensive basing material there. Chains like Michaels or Hobby Lobby will also sell model or diorama material. Getting a variety of static grass and grass tufts helps liven things up. You can also purchase sheets of cork board to tear up and use as rocky outcroppings. if you want to add some height to your base.

Honestly, just take a look in your junk drawer, you can repurpose a wide variety of stuff. I did some urban Tau and wanted to add some broken glass (busted out windows) so I broke up the cover of an old plastic CD case I had laying around.

Y'all must have the moneys. Here is a cork board on Amazon for $9...

There are a wide number of accessibility tools that might help you here, such as card holders. A creative option might also be a fabric memo board, which will give you places to tuck cards.

I was looking at this a while back, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XIXI2EM/ref=nav_timeline_asin?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

But if you want to be fancy you can get a shadowbox.

I used a board similar to this, took the cork board out on the frame and put a mesh in there instead, but it wouldn't work with any hamster, because 1. My robo is so tiny she would barely reach it and wouldn't be able to move it and 2. she has never tried to escape and she doesn't like hights

I cut down drastically on the noise AND vibrations (the printer was literally wobbling around!) by lining the shelf that it's on in 1/4" (6mm) thick cork tiles that I got off Amazon. A very minimal solution to get one started.

The 8-tile pack was enough for me to cover the shelf my printer's on, AND a 24x36" bench. (The cutting mat I have on the bench doesn't slide around anymore, and the worksurface absorbs impact better!) :D

I bought some gorgeous chunky cork tiles and used Super 77 spray adhesive to attach them to my wall. They're great, and the tiles are thicker than what you get on a bulletin board so my tacks aren't falling out all the time. These are similar. I've used Super 77 on lots of projects, and that stuff is pretty solid. My tiles haven't budged in the 2 years they've been in place. I've removed it from some surfaces using Goof Off, but it's a solvent, so it can sort of melt some paints. No problem if you're willing to repaint the concrete wall when you move out or when your parents sell.

What I did for Warhammer Diskwars (which uses the right-angle boundary markers too) is got a 36" X 36" cork board from Hobby Lobby. I then purchased some felt to cover the area and glued it with VERY THIN application of Tacky Glue (think Craft Elmer's glue). I stress VERY THIN as if you put too much, it will bleed thru the felt and create a hard spot.
This has worked out great...and its double sided so I have one side black (for space!!!) and green (for grass)

I suggest an arts and crafts store (Jo-Ann's Fabric, Hobby Lobby, Michaels) as they will run coupons for '50% off one item' weekly (they have phone apps which make them easier to find) so the ~$20 bulletin board becomes half price.

I tried to find something similar on Amazon to link, but all they have are rectangles, and their prices are high and I'd imagine shipping is high too cause of their awkward size.

Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Brands-Bulletin-Board-Inches-Frame/dp/B00PRYQ9YU only square and much cheaper. (my 36"x36" was maybe $15 or so at Hobby Lobby, before the 50% coupon)

As you can guess, this is not portable, but I usually host games at my house so no big deal.

Sounds like the roller grippers my dad used to have in his office in the '80s... I found this:

They have a bunch of different lengths.

Whoa, that's quite a giveaway. A 1.21 Gigawatts giveaway!

This is my first weekend after quitting my job, so it's the first Saturday I've had free in years. I plan to do all the things I can't usually do: have brunch, hit some flea markets, maybe a movie. I have options!

I'd love this for the room I'm slowly trying to make into a home office space.

u/unoriginalsin · 1 pointr/nostalgia

Even if the cork is rotting, you can fix that shit for cheap.

The grip tape that is used to wrap bicycle handle bars might work well (and is available in a variety of colors and patterns.)

I want that tape too!

This one is close, this one is similar. Neither are the exact one.

Could be one of these too, but the individual images are all messed up

u/MaxwellDumbass · 1 pointr/CarAV

I've done it before with plywood and a cheap-ass jigsaw. This was in a sentra, but it was older (2004) so I doubt it shares in similarity with yours. I layered the plywood on each side with dynamat.

You could also use cork board like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Cork-Sheet-Wide-Thick-Single/dp/B004QJIV4S/

I'm not sure how well it would work, but this is a cool idea because it will also give you some damping.

What kind of bases do you want to make? I use cork board, small ballast, and the GW effects paints to do my bases generally. This guy for example, I used this cork board ripped into little pieces for the big rock he's standing on, this for the little rocks, then I painted it black and drybrushed it with greys, and then used this for the snow. Very simple, took very little time, but looks pretty good. You can also buy grass flock, or use different colors, but I wanted a snowy, bleak, rocky look.

Thanks!

I just bought cork board

I bought this probably from reading someones similar tip (maybe yours?)

Just found some of these .25" thick 12"x12" squares at Michaels Craft Store and cut them down to size with a sharp knife. Then to raise the bed the amount that I needed I just folded up some painters tape and taped that to the bottom middle of the cork. I can possibly take a picture later. You can shim the underside of that cork with whatever you want since it insulates so well.

Edit: like These

I used two layers of cork and cut out a channel in the top layer for the thermistor and its wires.

I installed these cork tiles behind my board, in a 3x3 grid. The main reason was to mask and prevent further holes in the basement drywall (I suck). Noise reduction was an unexpected bonus. It's a Unicorn Eclipse Pro board, with the mounting bracket installed on top of the cork. I've been pretty happy with the setup thus far, although the included adhesive strips were inadequate. Accurate shots are mostly inaudible on the main floor of the house.
