These pads are great for Grado. I had them when I had the SR60 and have them now with my SR125. I think they're much more comfortable

On ear open for around $100-$150? Try the Grados? Read some reviews, I absolutely love my Grado SR80i (I think they are on Grado SR80e currently...). They would be the $100 end of your budget, the Grado SR125e would be the high end of your budget. Although if you do go for them there are a few little mods you do (which cost about $10). I would recommend new ear pads which is where the $10 comes in. Yes, the yellow is ugly. Yes, they are more comfortable.

Good deal on the Grados. I have the same and use these earpads, much more comfortable than stock - for anyone interested

I replaced the ear pads with Sennheiser replacements (see below). It makes them kind of ugly, but whatever. Very comfy afterwards. I had no issue with the headband.

I disagree. I've worn a pair of SR225is for 8 hours a day at work for the past 5 years and wore SR80's for years before that. Once broken in they're plenty comfortable, but you can easily swap the pads out if the stock ones aren't to your liking. Sennheiser yellows will drop right on them without modification if you don't like the stock pads: https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Cushions-Sennheiser-HD414-headphones/dp/B002B4OEZ0

I like the [Senn pads] (http://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Cushions-Sennheiser-SRI-Series-headphones/dp/B002B4OEZ0). Quarter mod them and enjoy!

IMO stock Grado pads have crap foam. Havebnt tried the earzonk pads, are they the same material as stock or different?

The only velour pad that might fit the portapros that I could find is this, and they're way to expensive here, so I don't even want to think about Australian pricing. You can also get Sennheiser 414 pads or any type of Grado pad. Or you could just go for the normal portapro pads.

Edit: If you consider yourself a risktaker, you can order them from China on Ebay, but don't feel obligated, there might be another velour pad that fits the portapro. It's highly modular.

Love my old tattered used pair of 60s. They will always have a spot in my collection.

I got these pads. The yellow is a cool touch too imo. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002B4OEZ0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I got these because I couldn't stomach paying sixty bucks for the "real thing", that said I cut out the back of them and put them on backwards and they work great- despite the tackiness. Part of why I bought Grados is because they offer so much "value" and are made in the US so this mod just felt better than shelling out G-cushion cash and it subjectively worked just as well.

They sound and feel really good. They open the soundstage quite a bit.

I love my SR-80's, but comfortable isn't a word I'd apply to them. For a couple of bucks you can get different ear pads which are a lot better.

Also, there are a lot of mods you can perform if you're feeling ambitious.

I have the 225's which I found uncomfortable for anything more than about 20 minutes. I looked at the "big" (around the ear) grado upgrade but they wanted $80, here in Vancouver. No way I'm paying that for a couple of pieces of foam.

I went with the $25 Sennheiser HD414 option and did the quarter mod upgrade and am really happy with the results.
