I actually really love battery powered LED christmas light strings. I've found them at stores like Fred Meyers as well as on Amazon.... They're decently bright, super-portable, and I haven't had as many problems with connections as I have had with el-wire. That being said, it's fun to do a mix of el-wire and LED christmas lights...
Buy two of these, place battery packs in pockets(assuming you have pockets). Stitch light threads around coat in interesting manner. Done. I agree with others about finding a suitable camp before night fall. Also to help with the darkness, you can bring LED lights or a small backpack lantern. I have the Black Diamond Apollo and highly recommend it. Tiny enough to stash in a side pocket and the battery has lasted me a few nights on low light.

you could make a shadow box to mount the picture frame to. Inside the shadow box you could put an LED light strip in the box and mount the battery pack on the outside but hidden behind the frame.

I have a 2009 Shadow, there is no tach. I'm pretty used to how it feels now.

They are nice because you can just snip off extra lights and they still work. I wonder if you can mount them around the inside of the housing and hide the battery pack under the tank or something.

The glue gun and flower I got from Micheal's craft store. I also drilled a small hole into the center of the base and stuck the flower in, hot glued inside the hole and around the bottom of the flower for extra support.
The led's came on a lengthy wire, so I cut them down to a size and wrapped them on the inside of the lip of the wooden stand, giving the glass dome plenty of room to sit.
Other than that, if you go ahead and make one, have fun doing so!
