Had the Odyssey for about 2 weeks now. Great device, only issue I've been having is the left touch pad gets stuck in VRChat sometimes (software). The cord is a little shot too, but I hear that's an issue with all(most?) headsets. Fixed that issue by getting a HDMI/USB3 extender.
I don't really have anything I can compare it too since it's my first VR headset. So I'll just boil it down to: Is it worth $400? Yes, for me Gorn, Fallout VR, and SuperHot VR make it worth it. Also recommend getting some rechargeable batteries, first set lasted me about 2 days.
Don't forget to buy a Bluetooth dongle if you don't have one. Bluetooth is required for the controllers.
The plug on the right you just have to pull out, cut off the factory plug, add connectors to the two wires, connect them to the new USB...thingy, then shove it back in the hole. It's so tight that you don't even need to install the nut on the back side of the...thingy.
The one on the left, I had to shave a little bit on the top/bottom in order to fit the HDMI/USB...thingy. But, much like the one on the right, I just shoved it in there and it's super tight, no need for the nut on the rear.

I've been using this 6' cable with my Odyssey after seeing it suggested in a thread a while ago. Been working perfectly for me.

I just use Amazon basic extension cables lol that's it and I have never had an issue. I have the same headset as well.
If I did it again I would recommend this cable.
