The kind I have is a handheld sprayer. Kind of like what you see on kitchen sinks, the little water guns. I just wash it with cleaner the same way I do the rest of the toilet. It doesn't really get dirty though. Because it sprays water out so usually anything is getting shot away from it. This is the kind I go. I see you went with squishy bronze, good choice. I'm guessing that this is a step up in size for you, so you're body will need some time to get used to is. Be patient. I worked my way up to all day wear over a space of a couple weeks, and it was months before I sized up and started training for all day wear again. I'm no were even close to that with my latest. Practice makes perfect, you'll be taking it like a champ in no time.
Learning to relax is really the most important part of keeping it in honestly. The plug should be big enough that it will stay in on it's own as long as you keep your muscles from clamping down on it. You can practice your control by clamping down on it like you would cut off a turd mid motion. This has the pleasant side effect of pushing the plug up into your body and, if you're lucky, rubbing it against your prostate, which is it's own reward. Hold the contraction for 5 or 10 seconds then relax everything for 10 or 20 seconds. Repeat for a couple minutes. Your butt will be so tired, and your prostate so stimulated, that you won't be able to push it out.
Incidentally, learning to control those muscles makes a huge difference in how enjoyable any kind of anal play is. Learning to let something, or someone, slip into your ass with no resistance, but then clamping down on them and not letting them leave is fun.

NTA, especially in regards to your son. I think it's more than reasonable to expect your SO/child to be wearing fresh underwear everyday, especially if your child is still learning to wipe their bottom.
I also used to use wet wipes and recently purchased a hand held bidet. It's honestly changed my life. Now I can spray clean and then just use a little tp to dry off. Just a recommendation if you're open to it! I've save a ton of money buying less wet wipes and can feel a bit better about not having to throw them away all the time.

A shattaf (hand bidet) can be very easily installed.
It's basically a sprayer attachment (like the kind on some kitchen sinks) that you plumb between the toilet water supply valve and the tank.
So the water supply will split between the tank (to fill it) and the shattaf, which usually has its own valve (to avoid leaks).
Here is one that seems OK (B grade on Fakespot) but more than I'd recommend spending if you aren't sure about incorporating this into your lifestyle.
You could always go the third-world route (like I was accustomed to) to get familiar with the practice (or even do it long-term), and use a pitcher/watering jug.

My life has changed completely with my Ass Blaster2000. I have, rather than a bidet, a sprayer (shattaf -- the best named thing ever), my toilet is right across from my sink (which the AssBlaster 2000 attaches to).
