You don't have jury struts in the 185, but I do know that someone makes a strut camera mount thingy. My system may work on your stringer, it's a cool view, but not super useful for most of the takeoff or landing run as it just gets pummeled by water.

You can use the $1-2 plastic GoPro tripod adapters to go to/from 1/4-20, you don't have to buy the aluminum ones like I did for the following. Saves a bunch of money on the assembly. These are parts I just happened to have already, over my years of using GoPro's for stuff, I just like aluminum better. /shrug
This does a fairly decent job of eliminating a bunch of the warping, I'll take a with/without video when I get the chance here. The four rubber corner bumpers cushion it a good bit.
