This thingy is pretty neat and will solve the problem. You don't have to wait for the glue to dry as with a glue stick.

Go to Michaels or Hobby Lobby and get an album (3 ring types are my preference but the post-bound kind are more common.)

For paper, Michaels sells pads of themed paper, often for cheap. Any kind of card stock will work. You can also look for loose sheets at HL, Michaels, or even Walmart or JoAnns.

Something she’ll likely need is a good pair of scissors (ie Fiskars) and a paper slicer.

Lots of craft shops sell cutesy stickers and embellishments. I find the alphabet stickers to be pretty useful for putting titles on certain pages.

The only other thing she will absolutely need is a way to attach photos to the paper. There are several ways to do this. Whatever you choose, just make sure it’s photo-safe so you don’t wind up damaging your prints. This is what I use.

Double-sided "glue" tape? I use four small "daps" on the four corners... more than enough to keep the glass in place without mechanical clips.

As for the tape... I stole it from my wife's card-making supplies. :)

i use an adhesive runner/roller like this on handmade envelopes and moisten regular ones. Then add some washi tape usually.

OK here is what I use for making cards! Highly recommend.

MONO Glue for embellishments and heavy paper on top of other heavy papers and cardstock. MONO is heavy duty, no liquid to deal with, and is archival quality. The dispenser is refillable, and you can find the refills at a discounted price in a pack.

MONO Liquid glue stick has 2 sides, a wide tip and a small tip to control flow. This is great for using on papers, any weight, as well as larger embellishments.

Glue Dots for small embellishments. Zero mess/liquid with the Glue Dots and they come in a variety of sizes.

Thank you for sharing your story and also for your kindness! I recently started bullet journaling and just grabbed a random journal I found in my room and started writing - I've found that it's so much easier to keep up with than a planner, and I don't get discouraged if I somehow miss a day or two of writing (whereas there's so much blank space in a planner if you miss any days).

I actually get excited to write in my Bujo at the beginning/end and throughout the day and it's been such a game changer :)

That being said, I would love to try out the Leuchtturm 1917, hopefully it withstands pens a bit better than my current one lol (even the mildliners bleed through T__T good thing I only picked up 3).

For accessories, this tombow adhesive applicator looks super useful for pasting in pictures/prints. And then for the rest of the accessories, these cute washi tapes (I love Neko Atsume and I recently visited Kyoto so the tape brings back memories): neko atsume, kyoto, watercolor.

I would say first of all, make sure that they're interested in bullet journaling, or in stationary at the very least. It's a letdown to spend good money on nice supplies when the recipient might not know what to do with them.

With that said, my personal preferences (have been bullet journaling for about a year and a half):

I love the Rhodia goalbook. The paper quality is excellent, and it has some basic things already set up, like an index, page numbers, future log. It's softcover, which I know some people don't like, but I don't mind.

Previously I was using a Leuchtturm1917, which was okay. The paper isn't as good, but it's hardcover if that matters. Both the Rhodia and Leuchtturm I used were A5 size, which is most common in my experience.

Keep in mind these are pricey, as far as notebooks go. I think I paid $25 for the goalbook and $20 for the Leuchtturm. If you're not sure about what the recipient would like, you can get some really nice journals from Barnes and Noble for less.

For writing supplies, I use my fountain pens along with a black rollerball and sometimes Tombow dual brush pens for fancy lettering. I know the Pigma Micron fineliners (fine tip pens in general) are very popular, but I just don't want to overwhelm myself with too many pens so I stick with what I have.

A couple of extras that I find pretty useful are a ruler (though I suppose most people already have a ruler lying around the house) and an adhesive applicator--I use the one that Tombow make. Or double-sided tape is good.

Other than that, it's really all down to personal preference. I personally keep my journal fairly utilitarian because I'm not very artistic, but lots of people use watercolor paints and get really creative. Stencils and stickers are also popular.
