Thanks man! Yeah the rpi is really incredible and can handle a lot more than you'd expect. I bought this from amazon, so the touchscreen is an entirely separate piece. (It was only $60 when I bought it...)

well the basic plan is to attach a 5-7inch screen and use it for emulation when im at the pub :P would i get a TFT screen in either of those sizes?

You could probably make one with a Raspberry Pi and a small LCD.
In fact, no synching necessary, just have it display your Google calendar.
