Don't forget collecting accessories like sleeves and binder pages, which are costs that add up. However, most collectors have a favorite brand and want their collection to match, so you'd probably have to ask her what she uses, which would ruin the surprise.

One downside is that you can't add pages.
The Pokemon Center website also has cute binders, deck boxes, sleeves, and playmats. I haven't bought any of their tcg playing accessories, but the quality of their plush is excellent. For the past 2.5 years, shipping has been free for $50+; it's not a limited time promotion.
