Yep, same. I have to use this deodorant or I get an itchy, red rash in my armpits. Wholly unpleasant and it took 5 years and 5 dermatologists to figure out the issue.

I have a nickel allergy as well, which may or may not be a related issue.

Mitchum Unscented Antiperspirant is my go-to. You can usually find it in Riteaid, Walmart, CVS, etc.

I am from Tucson! I love Schmidt's deodorant (bergamot and lime especially). I used to get it at Whole Foods but they stopped carrying it so I order Amazon now. It is certified cruelty free and vegan! https://www.amazon.com/Schmidts-Deodorant-Stick-Bergamot-Ounce/dp/B018K3ATKE

I use unscented arm and hammer antiperspirant. It also helps with chafing.

I use the TOBS deodorant matched to the specific cream/balm/splash when I shave with their products. I also use D.R Harris deodorant when I'm using their cream/balm/splash - Arlington is a great example the stick smells just like the cream/soap. Both of these brands offer non-aerosol stick deodorants that work very well (prevent smells, sweating) and are cost effective...they last a good few months.

Jack Black Pit Boss is another superb performer as a stick deodorant. It has a neutral scent and is ideal when you want to use a scented post shave balm or a splash without the smells clashing.

I only use stick based antiperspirant's as nothing ruins a good cologne or splash like a whole bunch of airborne smells and propellants from a can of pressurized deodorant as you hose your pits!

The suggestion to use “Natural deodorant” is absurd. My guess is the author has zero experience with Hyperhidrosis and thinks natural solutions fix all possible problems. This reeks of being rooted in a Naturalistic Fallacy. Not only does the author tersely recommend “natural deodorant”, but they also failed to mention which one works, suggesting absolutely zero research into the subject, after all, surely there are natural deodorants that don't work, right?

For people who want a real solution, my best recommendation is to use a very powerful anti-persperant called Certain DRI, which is not to be confused with what's just a moderately powerful anti-persperant+deodorant called Certain DRI A.M. You may have to go to a Pharmacy to find it, but at least it's over-the-counter.

Things to know:

  • Certain DRI (the right one) is to be used the night-before as you are on your way to bed, not the morning of like most things you're used to.

  • It may take 2 or 3 nights to start working. (But when it works, it's damn effective).

  • May tingle a bit at first but you get used to it and won't notice that after a couple weeks.

  • Be careful not to over-use it, as that tingle could turn into a pain.

  • Annecdotally, the roll-on version is stronger than the white-stuff, but I can't personally attest to that since I haven't ever tried it.

  • Never apply it to shaved skin, or you will suffer from pain.

  • Don't overdose on the stuff like this guy and cause your sweat glans to stop working for over a year.

The Certain DRI A.M. is just like any other deodorant, and is used the morning you need it. Not particularly impressive, as it's on par with a stick of Mitchum Advanced Control.

Hopefully this will help anybody who's ruining their shirts or feels forced to wear undershirts.

Arrid cream is the tits.

hey hey! it's funny because i went through the same problem.

I've been sweating from my armpits, back and chest for like 15 years.

5 years ago i discovered Driclor roll on (and certain dri is my go to actually), and i dont sweat from the armpits anymore :)

during those years i did try to roll on the roll on my back (unsuccessfully), and i did it on my torso but it didnt really help. too much area to cover.

then last year i tried the sweatblock wipes on my back: super hard to apply: did not work well either and i gave up.

now 2 weeks ago i found out about a spray (like you made with your driclor roll): i've been applying it to my torso and it pretty much worked. im plannig on applying a bit more in the next few days and maybe next week, and then see how long i go withtout sweating, but yes it does work.

now for my back! I managed to spray it on my lower back successfully, and when i go for a run now, my tshirt is drenched only in the top part of my back so yes it works!

I cannot manage to spray it on my upper and middle back though which is super annoying, but im going to ask a friend to do it for me in a couple days. it's embarassing, but he also sweats a lot so im sure he'll understand. im 99% sure it'll stop me from sweating so im excited.

only problem is how to apply it when my friend isnt here, ill have to figure this out...

here is the product i bought: there are other similar ones:
https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B00474JDJE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

sorry it's on amazon.FR but at least you can google similar products for your country

and pleaaaaseee if you find a way to spray that thing on your upper back please let me know how haha

good luck:)

When I was in my teens I used to get a bit of a rash from using sticks as well (forget which brand specifically but I think it was degree). That ended up just stopping on its own. Since I always used to sweat a lot I’d rub on a good amount each time even up to about a year ago when I first got certain dri. By “a good amount” im saying like up and down 2, maybe three times if it was a hot day. My point is that it’s possible you’re allergic to some of the common ingredients found in all these antiperspirants.

So I’d recommend giving a natural antiperspirant a shot. A quick search gave me Tom’s of Maine and they say specifically that it is “non irritating”. I personally can’t speak to the quality of this but read a few of the Amazon reviews (link I gave is to amazon) and even just submit the question about if people who have received rashes from other deodorants tried this and does it really not irritate them.

I wouldn’t say you have to settle on being the sweaty guy just yet. A few decades ago, yeah, but now there are so many smaller companies that are around that specifically cater to people who don’t like or can’t use the mass produced products that most of the population uses.

As for certain dri, I would recommend it for most people in a heartbeat but since I got irritation from it (albeit from overuse) I don’t want to say “yes absolutely use it, I’ll be great.” It May end up irritating you like the others did. But if the irritation wasn’t an issue, I’d highly recommend it. The weather recently became warmer where I live and I’m sweating anytime I’m outside but I haven’t once felt or seen pit stains or even my shirts being slightly damp and I’ve been checking a time or two a day. The key thing is really to just use it very sparingly. It feels like it’s not enough because you’re afraid it won’t work but if you trust that it will, then you’ll have dry arms and no irritation.

Btw, I still put on a light amount of a stick antiperspirant every morning. Just gives me a bit more reassurance.

TLDR: id suggest getting a natural deodorant and/or one that specifically says that it doesn’t irritate (like the one in the link I put above. Certain dri has been great for me and while I had irritation as a teen sometimes, I havent had it recently so I can’t say whether certain dri, when the appropriate amount is used, will give it irritation or not. If I were you, I’d give it a shot if the natural ones don’t work but it could give you irritation. But there are so many small companies that are popping up to provide products to niche consumers so I wouldn’t stop looking if the natural antiperspirant and/or certain dri don’t work for you. I think you’ll find something in due time.

I like the Mitchum clinical strength soft solid. It's harder to find in stores so I usually Amazon it, but it works pretty well as an antiperspirant and I've been happy as far as not staining clothes goes

u/thiney49 · 2 pointsr/science

I'd probably try something like this first.

u/x420legitsniper · 2 pointsr/malegrooming

I'm glad I could be of assistance! I rinse off and use soap every time I shower. It's only once a week that I really stand in the shower for fifteen minutes and scrub myself excessively. To make sure I don't smell I use Mitchum advanced control deodorant and Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio cologne.

u/EvilGeniusSkis · 2 pointsr/WeWantPlates

here’s the Amazon link. even the scented stuff only has a very mild scent.

u/thumpx · 2 pointsr/toronto

This is an example. https://www.amazon.ca/Gillette-Clinical-Strength-Anti-Perspirant-Deodorant/dp/B001F51QJ8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1500930457&sr=8-4&keywords=gillette+clinical+deodorant

A couple of the other big brands have the clinical lines as well. Theyre about 8-10 bucks in store, but go on sale for as low as 5-6.

This stuff?

I was just dealing with this, I switched to vannicream and im still dealing with the damage from the other deodorant but it definitely has stopped it from getting worse. https://www.amazon.com/Vanicream-Anti-Perspirant-Deodorant-Protection-Dermatologist/dp/B01M7ZAQNN

I use Old Spice Denali (or Fiji in the summer) and in my experience it doesn't leave residue on my shirts. I don't wear black like ever, but I wear a lot of navy and I've never noticed stains on my darker shirts. Folks always tell me I smell really good so that works for me!

u/djc6535 · 1 pointr/AskMen

Pitboss by Jack Black. Great stuff. Only thing that keeps me dry.

u/thatgreenmaid · 1 pointr/ZeroWaste

Fa also comes in a glass bottle. https://www.amazon.com/Fa-Deodorant-Ounce-Roll-Sport/dp/B0006PKH7K

Most of the spray can types can be recycled when empty. Best bang for the buck is Arrid XX (if you're in the US, usually found on the bottom shelf with the 'older' brands.)

u/zorinlynx · 1 pointr/Miami

If you can, switch from deodorant to an anti-perspirant.

https://www.amazon.com/Ban-Roll-Antiperspirant-Deodorant-Unscented/dp/B001F0QWY2

This stuff is awesome, rather than covering up or obscuring the scent, you just STOP SWEATING under your arms. It's miracle stuff.

u/whenthelightstops · 1 pointr/AdviceAnimals

Just like this stuff. Brand doesn't matter, but put a good layer on your inner thigh.

u/zambowman · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice
u/theg33k · 1 pointr/Ultralight

I use this. It's cream so I can put it in whatever size container makes sense for my trip.

u/AlbaNera · 1 pointr/italy

u/consoleWrite · 0 pointsr/AdviceAnimals

Buy this and put on every night for three nights in a row. It'll sting like fuck and you'll cry like a baby, but after then you can put in on once a week and never sweat again.
