Hm, I don't know if you'll find any colorful trees in San Diego this time of year. I know they make little mini fake foliage for things like table decorations. You might be able to find a package of those at a craft store like Michael's or JoAnn, then use a toy car.
Something like this:

I know that cosplayers are using a sandwich of worbla and EVA to obtain a firm surface.

However, I Think it would be easier to use Palm Bark because the whole process of shaping and painting could be omitted and it would be quite sturdy from the start.

Fake anything is considered less than ideal. See flip69's comments in this thread - he's the man. Despite not having issues, i do plan to reduce the amount of fake plants by about half over next week or so. I will keep some in one corner for denser 'outside cover'. As mentioned, i have had good luck with the ones i use. Creating an 'inside a tree' feeling for part of the enclosure is inline with their natural habitat and at best, fake plants can provide temporary cover until natural plants have time to fill out.

I've seen lots of fake stuff but i can roughly put it into 3 categories:

  1. Branded hard plastic stuff found overpriced in pet stores. Exo terra foliage, flukers foliage, they have the consistency of a milk jug and have like suction cups on them to stick to glass. Maybe ok, idk never used them. Not paying $18 for a single strand.

  2. Cheap plastic vines. These are cheap to buy in bulk. They are technically plastic but feel more like wax paper if it had a bit of texture. They are very thin, light passes through them. They will almost certainly come from china. I use these exact ones: https://www.amazon.com/192-Feet-English-Greenery-Garlands/dp/B0051QLAMA - 192 feet is a buttload of crappy fake vines. Enough to swap out fresh every time you clean your enclosure for a year for less than $25. When you get them they will smell funky. Wash the hell out of them all at once in a big bucket. 5 gal hot water, 1/8 cup bleach and let them sit for an hour, then rinse at least 10 times with fresh water like you're churning butter, over and over until the water is consistently crystal clear. Having a few beers handy helps. The first wash after bleach your bucket will be green. After 7-10 rinses you'll get all crap out, water will be clear and they wont have any smell. That is if you want to go down this road. I've been met with welcomed respectful criticism, and at the very least these should not be used as primary climbing or drinking sources. Outside cover use, where growing natural vines would be difficult. Consider them disposable.

  3. Silk. These range from fake silk to actual real silk ( obnoxiously expensive ), so will refer to silk as fake silk. Silk will soak up water like a sponge. I had a single silk flower once i put in the front for purely decorative reasons when i first started and that thing was a cesspool within like 48hrs. That fast under a mister ( which i require for my location ) and and a basking bulb. There was visible mold almost immediately. They just don't dry out. Water doesn't bead off at all. Water rolls right off the ones in the link above. Dip them in water they are dry almost immediately. Silk ones, might as well just hang a pair of silk panties in there. Might seem like a fun idea but in practice expectations are definitely not met.

Anyways, approach plastic fake leafy vines with caution as noted by mods and sidebar care sheet. They work good for me in my setup in my region of the US in the conditions of my chameleon room. One size does not fit all.

I got these and am very happy with them. They are not going to pass for real rose petals by any means, but I don't need them to. The color and quality are really good, especially for that price.

Sorry for being late, this took me lots of hours to make. Didn't get to finish it last night, so continued today.

Note: I only did this for fun, I am not an amazing expert in terms of interior design.

I used Google's SketchUp, which is a free 3D rendering . I haven't used this in a long time and also couldn't find the installation file to run this. So instead, I used the browser version. Which worked very well, but I couldn't find props, so I hand made everything.
Yes, the bloody plants were a disaster! I also went a bit crazy on my own picasso. Deal with it!

  • 3D render pictures:
  • Picture 1
  • Picture 2
  • Picture 3

  • Size reference list:
  • Couch, TV table, TV, Coffee table, Bookshelf
  • Chair, Small round table, Slim side table, Plant (lol)

    ---

Overall, I am not too sure about the fireplace. It feels a bit too cramped, but I had it further away from the fireplace which made it a bit awkward in terms of the couch.
I do really like the couch, but maybe instead of the coffee table, get either a smaller one or not one at all. You could consider a small TV stand and wall mount the TV instead.

Anyway, if you have any question. Don't hesitate to ask!

Wonderful, good luck with the move!!

Things like this which save space but are much needed (especially for cheap eats like pasta!) are great. You can run out of kitchen space very easily, so saving space is great. Also, check out poundland - I'm pretty sure they sell these, and positive they sell lots of other nice little kitchen bits and pieces.

I see everyone is covering the really essential stuff - I totally second that. You'll only realise you don't have a can opener/corkscrew/potato masher/spatula when you need one!

EVERY house needs these - fairly sure they're compulsory by law.

For jazzing up your cooking, or to achieve the same and also have some living things sharing the space with you, fresh!

I'm trying to think of purely useful stuff - if you're living on your own, tupperware is a must! Otherwise you'll find yourself wasting tons of food!

Hope the move goes well :)

I want to buy this dracaena plant, it has a clippable coupon that brings it down to $79. Anyone think it will get lower than this or not?
