I love my Marmot Precips with a lightweight pair of thermal underwear underneath if it's cold. Not super warm, but cheap and layerable and ive done -20c without complaint.

Btw I find the best thing to patch rips in your weather layer is Jeep softtop repair kit.

Yeah it's not real obvious since they leave the decimal out, so it's easy to miss, especially if the tag is covered in grime.

The carrier holds the ring gear in place and also houses the spider gears which allow the axle shafts to turn at independent speeds from each other when not traveling in a perfectly straight line. 3.73-up just means it will accept all ratios from 3.73 and higher (4.10, 4.56, 4.88...I think max for our D30 is 5.13?) personally I wouldn't go beyond 4.56; any tire needing 4.88 is going to be very large and just getting a beefier axle is a better idea than trying to over-modify the D30 to accommodate such a size.

The sluggishness is also putting extra strain on the transmission, which will shorten its life since the fluid is running hotter. It will love you for re-gearing. Do a fluid drain and refill (Dexron/Mercon, not ATF) after your re-gear as it's likely lost some of its viscosity and thermal properties.
