My son isn’t super chunky yet, but we cloth diaper so I totally get the clothing dilemma!

We love these - they’re bulky in the butt and thighs, but fit around his waist nicely. I just roll the legs up until he grows into them.

I've gotten most of my son's clothes off Amazon. Rompers and basic white gerber onesies when he was an infant, and more recently simple tshirts and leggings. I love this brand of t-shirt - it's so goddamn soft, like your favorite old band t-shirt you've worn and washed a million times. I just buy 5 or 6 in different colors of the short sleeve and a few of the baseball style shirts for my son in whatever size he's wearing. Been doing this for 6-9 months, 9-12 months, and currently 12-18 months, and I'll do it again for the next size. Same thing with pants, I buy one pack of this set and one pack of this set and one pair of each of these Children's Place Skinny Jeans (4 pairs total) and call it a day. Without sales his wardrobe is around $150 per size.

I agree with the suggestion to consult your state's Early Intervention services, but as far as the undies issue... if you want to find underwear that he will tolerate what about thin cotton shorts? I am finding some in "baby" sizes like these or these. I'm seeing plenty of 2T size boxers on amazon too -- perhaps if he isn't quite fitting to 2T yet you could try to shrink some...

ETA: These are technically girls "boyshort" style undies but also look like they are comfy, sz 18-24mo.

I really like the Amazon Essentials pants over fluff butts.

Check out Touched By Nature, everything I have of theirs seems to run on the big side and is fairly wide cut. And they have all gone over my baby's cloth diapered butt. Though, she is only in 12 month stuff, don't know how much they have past that. But I know they have some pants in a bigger size. My baby came in at 75% for both height and weight and these clothes have some room on her.
