Honest Amish premium beard oil

That stuff is good. Smells like sawdust. I personally love it

u/superbozo · 48 pointsr/witcher

I have an insanely thick beard. It blows my mind when people say their beard is itchy. Use...beard...care...products.

Imagine if you just kept growing your hair out and NEVER washed it or conditioned it? Gee, I wonder if it would get itchy?! Treat your beard the same way. All it takes is a 12 dollar beard soap. Your beard will feel like a soft pillow afterwards.

Edit: Since people are asking what I use, here's my 2 primary beard care products. I don't really believe in beard oil. I think it's a total waste of money. This soap from mountaineer brand is all you need to keep your beard extremely soft. As long as you take care of the skin underneath the hair, you're good to go.

https://www.amazon.com/Beard-Mountaineer-Brand-All-Natural-Shampoo/dp/B00UCPWI12/ref=pd_bap_rp_18?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=D06D7JE9QRHTBMS4BJFK

In terms of styling and conditioning, I use the Cremo brand, specifically made for thick wild beards like mine. It gives you incredible shape and hold. It lasts all day, and it conditions the skin if you're using it correctly. Always start by applying it on your skin, then working your way down the hair. Not the other way around.

https://www.amazon.com/Cremo-Styling-Beard-Cream-Thickening/dp/B07MYF6JHY/ref=pd_bap_rp_5/137-7952774-8329336?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07MYF6JHY&pd_rd_r=38604cd8-1e5e-48b6-8e90-2facc0c1f6b3&pd_rd_w=Avrrz&pd_rd_wg=1vaim&pf_rd_p=63f770a6-6001-4362-87aa-6d0163bfc0c7&pf_rd_r=4Z78A0TB5A2BE5AADHDP&psc=1&refRID=4Z78A0TB5A2BE5AADHDP

Also, a thick boar hair brush will make all the difference when styling your beard. A regular comb is going to rip your hairs out and give you a patchy beard.

Now if we're talking luxury products, beard baron is the way to go. That guy beards...hard. The scents that he comes up with are magical. Normally I don't fall for the "luxury" bullshit, but his stuff is true quality. He also has great tutorial videos on how to upkeep your beard.

Anyway....I'm not sponsored by any of these companies. But now that I'm thinking about it, I probably should be lol. Hope that helps you guys!

The nice thing about beards is that they're easily removed. So go for it!

Some tips:

  • Beards require care, just like hair. In fact they require more care, because your face doesn't produce as much oil as your scalp does. Invest in some decent beard shampoo & conditioner, and some beard oil. I use Professor Fuzzworthy's for the former and Rangerfor the latter. I shampoo every other day. The beard oil goes in at least once per day (after showering), and I might apply it a second time in the evening if I'm going out and/or if the beard is feeling dry. Make sure that you massage the shampoo and oil all the way down to your skin; bearddruff is a thing.
  • Invest in a decent trimmer. Doesn't have to be expensive! I use this thing; it has guards in 1/8" increments out to 1", and the guard can also be repositioned slightly to get you even more precise control.
  • Once you have a length you like don't be afraid to get the occasional professional trim in order to get nice lines and fading and whatever else you're into. I've had my beard pretty short for the past few months so I haven't bothered, but I'm growing it back out again and once I hit a length I'm happy with I'll probably start getting it cared for once per month or so.

Just for Men "Shampoo". Much more economical than buying single use dye kits. VERY easy to use, and much more gradual than dying also. $8 lasts 1-2 months.

Once or twice a week, use this shampoo as part of your regular shower. Then rinse it out and use your regular shampoo/conditioner to get the chemicals out. Don't let it get on your fingernails (impossible), just make sure to rinse the suds off ASAP after lathering. I have no issues with discoloration. I leave it in for the duration of my shower, 5-10 minutes. The instructions say 1 minute???

If you have black hair, get the version where no color is mentioned (neon green).https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M7ZQQ3G/

If you have medium brown, get the blond/medium brown (yellow)https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078NFLNQF/
EDIT: This use case scenario blends in really well. I'd recommend trying this even if you were black haired.

I've used a lot of different brands, some very pricey, but I just found this Honest Amish Premium oil - and love it! $20 for 2 ounce bottle.

I’m really digging Viking Revolution. Ingredients are clean (important to me) and the smell and feel after is great.

u/doc_samson · 11 pointsr/MensLib

There is beard-specific shampoo and conditioner. Generally better because regular hair products can dry out a beard too much, which may be some of what you are experiencing.

I've bought two sets of this and its fantastic: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JL8QYPW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Caveat that it's the only brand I've bought so far, there may be better products I haven't tried yet.

Also beard butter is awesome at keeping the beard soft overall which seems to help with the skin care too. I use Fresh Beards brand.

u/zzctdi · 10 pointsr/JUSTNOMIL

For beard oil I can't help in the UK, I use a product made near me that's sold in a few local barber shops (US denizen), but I love it because it's a beard dry oil/beard balm.

I much prefer dry oils/balms over regular beard oil because they're just barely solid at room temperature, melting with just a little friction. Makes it way less messy than straight up oil, and goes on real easily with warm hands and a warm beard out of the shower.... and good scent is key!

For conditioners (yay, they're available in the UK!), I rotate between Art of Shaving Beard Conditioner and Beardsley Ultra Conditioner. The peppermint oil feeling in the art of shaving product is a little intense for me to use daily, but it's so refreshing.

I usually use my regular shampoo for the beard, but I'll use a dandruff shampoo (head and shoulders or equivalent) for a few days if the skin under it is starting to get flaky. And the peppermint oil conditioner right after that shampoo is way too much and irritates my skin.

u/ecurrent94 · 8 pointsr/beards

The cure for an itchy beard is beard oil!!

I use Bossman Beard products.

It’s amazing! After the first use my beard is super soft and if you buy a beard brush (make sure it’s 100% boar’s hair) you can keep it soft and neat. I highly recommend it!

u/osm0sis · 7 pointsr/malegrooming

Trim off the patchy parts to get a clean line. A barber will help a ton with setting a good line that you can keep clean while shaving.

I'd highly recommend using some beard conditioning products. This is the stuff I use although you can probably get some advice from people who know more than me on /r/beards

Also get a beard comb! It will help a ton and help get even application with your beard products.

If you want to keep the moustache a little longer I whole heartedly support your decision, but you're really going to want to invest in some moustache wax to train it, keep it out of your mouth (and drinks), and keep in looking groomed. It makes a huge difference.

EDIT: A good beard trimmer is crucial as well. Facial hair is notorious for growing unevenly and being able to trim those ends that grow faster than others keeps things looking a lot cleaner.

u/Trent_3000 · 6 pointsr/FTMMen

I can tell you what products I use for mine. I've tried a lot of products. The stuff I like is

Beard Guyz Beard Serum with Grotein 20, 1 ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y4DB3B6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Id6XCb47J3NRR

Cremo Styling Beard Cream,Thickening, 4 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MYF6JHY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Te6XCbBQNZJ84

Shea Moisture African Black Soap With Shea Butter 8 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005C2N8IC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_xn6XCbJRR90Z6

They've both been the best at making my beard look fuller and styling it. I think the beard serum worked best when it was shorter and the cremo works better with my longer beard now. Mine's pretty long so if I don't use product I look bad lol.

Beard shampoo isn't at all necessary and most of them include oils that block dht so they won't help grow your beard either. Waste of money. I just use african black soap. It's good for my face and my beard. Also it doesn't contain any parabens or propylene glycol.

All that being said. You can always pick up a basic beard balm and use the same soap you wash with. Just don't get anything with dht blocking oils such as lavender oil, rosemary oil, tea tree oil, pumpkin seed oil, saw palmetto oil, and emu oil.

u/mangaka92 · 5 pointsr/AskMen

I've been using the sandal wood Viking beard wash and conditioner on Amazon. It's cheap, but it smells decent and it works just fine.

https://www.amazon.com/Beard-Wash-Conditioner-Argan-Jojoba/dp/B07JL8QYPW/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=viking+beard+wash&qid=1570834238&sr=8-6

That should be enough to at least get started.

u/adam_absurdum · 3 pointsr/beards

Here's my routine:

  • Beard oil applied daily after I shower in the morning.
  • Condition beard with beard-specific conditioner daily.
  • Wash beard with beard-specific shampoo once or twice per week, or as needed.

Washing the beard too often or with too harsh a shampoo will dry it out which will lead to itching and hairs breaking off. I've used balm before and it's nice for holding down stray hairs, but I don't think it's necessary.

EDIT to add: Most everyone I know uses beard oil daily. He might be able to get away with using it weekly, but I wouldn't expect to see significant results.

As for products, here's what I use:

  • Beardsley Beard Conditioner
  • Bluebeard's Beard Wash
  • My own mixture of coconut and/or sweet almond oil with added essential oils for nice smells.

I've also used Bluebeard's conditioner, which is good. I'm using up the last of my shampoo and I'll probably try the Beardsley shampoo after I run out.

i'm liking Old Spice Unruly Paste and Axe Whatever Messy Look Paste right now. I'm actually trying out 5 different putty and paste products right now for comparison and so far those two are my preferred. The Axe one is much denser and putty-like and leaves your hair pretty hard when it dries, almost like a gel. The Old Spice paste is more creamy and leaves your hair stiff, but more flexible. Both are pretty dense when you put it in your hair, so you can kind of move your hair wherever you want to.

Keep an eye out because I'll be posting my comparison soon if you're interested.

u/gunzor · 2 pointsr/40something

If you're REALLY concerned about the grey, let me point you to Control GX Beard Wash. It really does work well.

Have you ever used Grandpa's Pine Tar soap? I wonder how similar they smell?

u/monkeysareeverywhere · 2 pointsr/beards

I don't have any hair on my head, however I use Zeus beard shampoo and some home brew beard oil. No smokey smell at all.

Wish it were that easy to deal with my palette..

Thanks for the reply!

>If you specify which beard oil and which moisturiser we can look into the ingredients and see what might be causing your acne and suggest alternatives.

I don’t know if that was an offer or just a generic include more info next time. If your willing/have the time to look at the products I’ll post them below.

This is what I use, I've really enjoyed all of them. I just apply these once every day or two, and avoid shampooing or conditioning, as that can get rid of some of your natural oils. Just rinsing thoroughly in the shower with water is enough.

u/arrozconplatano · 1 pointr/AskMen

Gel tends to suck. I like pomades and this old spice product

u/JohnC53 · 1 pointr/frugalmalefashion

And too expenses. Old spice has an awesome product for $7 at Walgreens.

Thanks!

For my hair I almost always just use axe brand shampoo/conditioner in the shower once a day. And to style I use Cremo Brand Hair Product (I think it’s the clay but I’m not sure, it looks like the link but orange) and just work a little bit in with my fingers.

For my beard, I haven’t really found a routine that seems to work well, but I bought these off Amazon and use the beard shampoo in the shower everyday and condition twice a week (Sunday and Wednesday). After shower I blow dry the beard and brush it out straight to try and train the hairs to be straighter but that hasn’t seemed to do much in the 2 months I’ve been doing it, afterward I work in some beard oil of choice (mine was from a local shop). Finally I use Honest Amish Mustache Wax to try and control my mustache and keep it away from my mouth but I’m trying to find a good amount to use, or even a different product entirely because it’s not working. If it’s hot it zaps it.

Wild Man Beard Conditioning Oil - The Original (30ml/1 fl. oz)

Says I purchased it November 12, 2013. So it's lasted me over a year. And i wasn't always so scarce with it either. Im almost out now. Smells great. Enjoy

u/mertbakerson · 1 pointr/Hair

So this is what I am talking about, and it says it is a shampoo.

Amazon

u/thefigpucker · 1 pointr/beards

Got mine on amazon, link HERE

I have yet to try it, day after I got it I was back in the hospital due to bleeding from my tonsilectomy and will give the stuff a shot tomorrow when I get home.

u/zeroblur · 1 pointr/BeardTalk

I have both of these and I love them. My face smells like fresh cut cedar wood and my beard is full and soft. I only recently realized they sell these two things together.

http://www.amazon.com/Mountaineer-Brand-Beard-Tamer-Conditioner/dp/B00JDPC9XO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427822612&sr=8-1&keywords=mountaineer+brand

As for a brush/comb, I've used boar hair brushes as well as wooden and plastic combs over the last 6 months of bearddom and don't really have a preference. I think that one will entirely depend on how thick/wiry/savage your facial hair is.

Edit: This looks promising too. I have the Grandpas Pine Tar Soap and it smells almost exactly like campfire smoke. It's fantastic. I haven't used Grave Before Shave products yet, but I hear good things about them

u/kinadiankid · 1 pointr/BeardTalk

I'm using beard balm by the B.I.G company. Got it on Amazon. I don't find it shines too much and keeps it pretty in shape. I do have a shorter beard though so it may differ for longer beards. They have other products as well.

u/Tactical_Beer · 1 pointr/beards

Keep it clean and keep it oiled. I have terrible skin, and it wasn't until I got some good shampoo/conditioner and oil that I was able to finally grow a beard. Also using a beard comb to train your whiskers to grow in the right direction can help. There's tons of great products out there, here are the ones that I found and like.

Beard Oil

You can get this anywhere, even Walmart.

It won't remove the grey completely, but it will reduce it and make it look natural

u/AzMatk421 · 1 pointr/beards

Hi. I just started using Taseyar. I I like it. My beard has some areas that are hard to tame but this balm/wax has pretty good hold. And it has almost no scent. What scent it does have is just a light clean smell. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01M4S6VRT/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_vR3FybWFWYWR2

I don't work for them or get any kind of kickbacks either.

This is what I use immediately after showering while my skin is still damp. I do have a beard though so not sure how shiny your skin would be. I apply minox shortly after the oil. I generally do not wash my face between applications.

It's exam week, so all I'm doing at the moment is shampooing/conditioning my beard every morning before my long days at the library. It keeps it super soft, without having smells iritating my nose, or getting my fingers oily during breaks of pondering and moustache twirling.

Here's the shampoo I use.

And here's the conditioner I use.

You can find both on most online American beard stores, but I'm UK. The conditioner isn't usually that pricey, it's generally £14.99

I've used the conditioner every day for 3 months now and I reckon I've got about half left. I use a little less than a pea-sized amount and that works for my just-shorter-than-medium-sized beard.
