Okay, here we go:

Howard has said numerous times that he is about 180lbs. According to Men's Health a 180lb man has about 21lb of bone so that puts Howard at about 160lb of non-bone, take away another 20lbs for non edible nails, hair, teeth, tendons, feces, etc. and we are looking at 140lb of cat food, or 2240 ounces

According to vet sources you should feed a cat at least once a day and maybe twice a day. Lets assume a low range of once and a high of three times for a fat cat. A fancy feast serving clocks in at 3 ounces.

I have previously expressed amazement when Howard said on the air that they had 23 cats in the house based on that metric, 23 cats would eat 69 ounces minimum and 207 ounces max a day.

Therefore in conclusion it would take 32 days maximum and 10.8 days minimum for Howard's dead body to be consumed by his cats.

Breed: domestic short-hair, a.k.a. moggy.

She looks to be older the 6 weeks as her default blue eyes (almost all kittens, including those of the "big" cats are born with blue eyes) have already turned to green.

Looks like you are giving her Temptations treats; those are good for an occasional treat, but not for feeding real meals. Cats are obligate carnivores; they need meat--check labels on cat food and avoid anything that has fillers like corn.

Good wet food (esp for the price!): https://www.amazon.com/Purina-Fancy-Feast-Flaked-Shrimp/dp/B0012KB466/ref=pd_sim_199_3?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0012KB466&pd_rd_r=B8MQ2M7BCPCJGWPBQD1N&pd_rd_w=SpSRe&pd_rd_wg=Cwzvx&psc=1&refRID=B8MQ2M7BCPCJGWPBQD1N

Set up a feeding station somewhere quiet, where you have little foot traffic and no noise (like washing machine etc).

Make sure she drinks enough water. The watering station needs to be away from the food station (cats do not like to drink next to food; it's an evolutionary left-over -- in nature water next to killed prey might be contaminated).

Cats like running water (signals "fresh" to them); try leaving a faucet on a slow drip or get a water fountain.

Be sure to get her a break-away collar with contact info in case she gets out. Microchip her as well.

Take her to a vet soonish to check her over and get her spayed (no more kittens!). Do NOT get talked into declawing her.

Get a couple of GOOD scratching posts, one where she can do a full body stretch vertically without tipping over the thing (this one is good: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000634MH8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

Try cardboard scratchers, too. Cats love those!

Most cats love "da bird" to play with (https://www.amazon.com/GoCat-Cat-Feather-Assorted-Colors/dp/B000F9JJJE/ref=sr_1_4?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1504644018&sr=1-4&keywords=da+bird)

Here's a great resource for any cat appreciator: http://www.wayofcats.com/blog/

That's all I can think of right now ... except this: have fun with her. Cats can enrich your life in immeasurable ways!

I have a puker. Things that really improved his pukeyness was a cat supplement that helps them with their gut. (Links below) Its advertised to help with poop issues, but will definitely help with puke issues as well.

You also need to make sure that there is NO grains in his/her food. Cats shouldn't have any grains in their food. Lots of cheap pet food use that as filler. Secondly, a lot of cheap food uses sub par ingredients. Check your cats food for chicken by product. It's bad for them. Its basically all the parts left over from taking the good stuff from the chicken. Wikipedia defines it as "It is made from grinding clean, rendered parts of poultry carcasses and can contain bones, offal and undeveloped eggs, but only contains feathers that are unavoidable in the processing of the poultry parts." Sounds pretty yucky, huh? You wouldn't eat it, so why should you feed it to your cat?
Crappy cat foods use a ton of fillers that are basically the equivalent to a bag of cheetos to humans.

Switch to a brand that is grain free and uses whole meats such as the wellness I linked below. Blue buffalo is also a good alternative. Do you feed your cat wet food? If not, try feeding a good wet food (Linked below). My cats love the core wellness wet food and really eating wet food is better than an all dry diet.

All this stuff is a little pricey, but its worth it in the long run. Taking him to the vet all the time is probably more expensive than switching to a better food. Do it slowly as well, like over a week or two.

Basically anything you can find in your grocery store's pet isle you shouldn't be feeding your pet. Its all junk. Even the "high end" purnia foods. Junk. I know purina makes a sensitive stomach formula for cats. I tried it and it didn't help my furry little puke machine at all. All these crappy foods don't really fill your cat up as much as a good food will so they will be hungrier more often because the quality of the food is just crap.

How I solved my cat puke problem was feeding them wet food in the morning and evening and leaving out a small bowl of dry food for them to snack on throughout the day. If your cat isn't really super hungry than they will eat a bit slower and that'll keep her from throwing up. Some cats don't handle the self regulating diet and instead just end up eating more food, so figure out if your cat(s) can handle grazing between wet food meals.

You can also try getting a cat water fountain and placing it somewhere separate from their water. Cats are weird and don't like their water near their food. Cats get most of their water from their food but having a flowing water source can really help them up their water intake. If cats don't get enough water they are prone to developing kidney and bladder problems. The Drinkwell Platinum Pet Fountain is really good. I have mine in my bathroom and my cats really enjoy playing with the water and getting their paws wet and licking them etc etc.

As for the stains, the stain remover I linked below is a god send. It's a good product that cleans up stains really well. It even does cat pee. I have light carpets and this stuff takes it right out and leaves no marks behind. It should even work on your old stains, you just have to leave it a little longer.

I know all this stuff adds up to a ton of money but its so worth it not to have to clean up cat puke all the time. I did a ton of research for my puke machine and he went from puking 3-4 times a week to puking maybe every 3 months and then its usually just a hairball. His coat also looked better and he was softer.

Let me know if you have any questions. I'd be happy to help you figure this out and field any more questions about how I solved my cats puke problems.

As a foster to cats and kittens (currently one cat and seven kittens), food is always needed. A kitten eats about four times as much as an adult, so I go through food like you wouldn't believe. I also have a special needs guy (Cinna) that can only eat canned food after having his colon removed (he alone eats about 3 cans a day). A case of food would be a huge help out. Thank you for the contest.

Edit: fixed link!

I need help this month. I need cat food, it is located on my WL called "Pets and Animals"

I was able to get freezer foods, some veggies and gas for myself and small human (which is why i don't have regular food items on my WLs). I'm still going to work - just waiting for my last month's paycheck.

Pre-thanks to anyone who is willing/able to help <3

My Vet says any wet food is better than dry food.

as for Kitty Crack in terms of wet food, Meow Mix beef, poultry

When I got my girl she wouldn't eat any wet food, she would just lick it a few times then cry for food. now that I have three kitties I feed them Friskies (anything but pate)

u/oceanalwayswins · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

I mentioned this in my other reply, but our normal vet highly suggested switching our cat to wet food.

This is what he eats now - http://www.amazon.com/Whiskas-Pouch-Variety-Pack-Food/dp/B005DL797S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417546613&sr=8-1&keywords=whiskas

The emergency vet tried to convince us to use prescription wet food, but our normal vet said any wet food is fine. It helps keep them more hydrated, which prevents the blockage.

u/itsamutiny · 2 pointsr/Frugal

That is wicked expensive for Friskies, I bought some for 47 cents a can at Target yesterday. You can get urinary tract health specific food on Amazon for 90 cents a can, which is a bit more than you're paying now but will be a lot better for him. http://www.amazon.com/Pro-Plan-Urinary-Chicken-3-Ounce/dp/B003R0LM2U/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1373172724&sr=8-3&keywords=cat+urinary+tract+health+wet+food

edit: Also I think 2 5.5 oz cans a day is a LOT, especially if he's supposed to be losing weight. An average cat should only eat about half that.

u/yellowfolders1 · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Here is my cat Fluffy. Some people say he looks "mean" but he is the sweetest ball of floof. I call him The Gentle Giant :)

[Cat food] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005OB3E30/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_r6y.wb2TQN6GQ) is always great! (On my fur babies list)

Thanks for the contest. Any pictures of your fur babies?

u/TheLawIsi · 2 pointsr/AskVet

Just buying a new bag isn't the worst thing that could have happened since you will have to taper your cat off the old food and onto the new food slowly to avoid GI problems. I also just recently switched my food from blue after learning about it in my vet tech classes. I switched to Hills science diet indoor formula for ages 1- 6(not the one required with a prescription) there is a lot of BS floating on the internet about pet foods and its easy to get confused on which ones are actually good for your pet. If you decide to go this route amazon is the cheapest seller by far.

u/Cats2011 · 2 pointsr/RandomActsOfPetFood

Can your cats eat meow mix wet food ( http://www.amazon.com/Meow-Mix-Toppers-Seafood-12-Count/dp/B007TFO3KM/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1422336469&sr=8-5&keywords=Meow+mix+cat+food) ? If so, add this to your wish list and we will purchase this for you, and some bird food.

u/HealthyPetsAndPlanet · 2 pointsr/veganpets

Taurine is naturally found in meat. It and a few other meat-specific nutrients are required for cats to be healthy. However, these nutrients are heat-sensitive and are destroyed when meat is processed into kibble. I suppose I haven't surveyed every single meat-based kibble on the market, but all of the following use synthetic Taurine.

My female kitty used to barf all the time until I switched their food. Since I started giving her (and my other two cats) this stuff she hardly ever does anymore.

I interrogated the cats after making this post based on the replies and took some photographs of the event: http://i.imgur.com/nYSIJ.jpg

It took a little bit to get their attention but they knew how much trouble they were in so they went along with it. Loki seemed pretty nervous during the whole thing though and kept behind Artemis. When I asked Loki if he was the norse god of cat vomit, he fled to my wife. She cut off the interrogation and defended his innocence so now I suspect they might be in on it together.

Artemis was very attentive during the interrogation and after it was over he left and went to sleep; however, it was near the scene of the crime. Why would he choose to sleep there when he has plenty of other places more appropriate like the cat tree they were interrogated on? Several of you mentioned that he might be getting revenge for giving him a girl name so I can't rule him entirely innocent.

When we rescued Artemis from the humane society as a kitten they told us he was a girl and we didn't find out he was actually a boy until two weeks later when we took him to the vet because he had a cold.

vinod1978 and IGottaSnake asked why the guilty cat vomited and questioned the food itself. I think that I can safely rule out the food but in the interest of full disclosure.
This is the kibble they eat: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GLON6U/
Supplemented with this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003SE12FM/

When I left for work this morning I couldn't find Loki anywhere but Artemis was watching me walk out the door from around the corner at the top of the stairs. I hope I don't come home to something worse tonight.

Another option is low carb dry food such as this or this.

The second cat I lost was to weight problems, and all other cats I've had couldn't be called fat, but were certainly overweight. Since moving to the low-carb dry stuff, my cats are at a healthy weight.

u/tetanusmaster · 2 pointsr/todayilearned

Dude, where are you getting your wet cat food? I can get some nearby at 2 cans for $1. You can get 24 cans online for under $10. I also have these lids that snap onto them (like a tupperware lid) to preserve the food better so I can make a can last 2-3 days (we give our cat both wet and dry food). If you compare it to some dry food like Purina ONE, and do a bit of math, it comes out to 14.01 oz per dollar for the dry food compared to 13.92 oz per dollar for the wet food. In this case, the wet food is actually cheaper. It's not an exact comparison, since Purina ONE costs more than the bottom-of-the-barrel pet food, but my point is that wet food isn't too much more expensive than dry food in most cases.

Calvin unfortunately only eats dry food. I've tried getting him on wet food because I firmly believe it's much healthier, but he's never really taken to it. Even worse, he really only likes kitten food, which has more fat than normal dry food, and he's a bit.. chunky.

Marcel like wet food, and will eat canned food, but he strongly prefers the Whiskas wet food packets, which works out well for me since they're much easier to open and serve than cans. He prefers the sauce over the solid bits, so the saucier the food the better. If I could find a 'cat soup' I'm sure he'd love it.

u/griss0 · 1 pointr/Pets

Can you split the costs for food? I have 2 cats and buy http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001J8J4UY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It last about 2-3 months, and it's only $30. You can ask him for 15-20$ to chip in for a huge bag, Royal Canin is about $35 on Amazon for a huge bag.

This is so kind of you! I would get this for my kitties :) I have been dealing with some financial difficulties for a while, otherwise I wouldn't post. No worries though! I truly appreciate the kindness behind the gesture.

u/Runawaii · 1 pointr/Pets

The lump could just be scar tissue. Humans get that too. It is only a problem when it gets tied around organs or gets in the way of mobility. Still have it checked but it's probably not anything to worry about.

As for the food. I would suggest looking for something else. The key you should look for is when you read the ingredients list, protein should be first on the list. Either chicken, turkey, beef, etc. 9 Lives starts with corn.. that is a bad sign. Every owner really has their own preference for food but that is your first indicator of what food is good for your cat. My vet suggest https://www.amazon.com/Hills-Science-Diet-Indoor-Chicken/dp/B003MA8P02 but my cat just doesn't seem to like it. Probably because she doesn't seem to like chicken. Go to Walmart or wherever you shop for food and just spend a good 30 min looking at all the ingredients lists for the indoor formulas. Look for ones where the protein source is listed first.

u/bbdoll · 1 pointr/Pets

awesome! and yeah, it really is surprisingly affordable especially with only one kitty. i narrowed it down a bit since you can order online, i would consider this, this, or this. come to think of it, i was able to successfully transition a carb addicted cat to blue buffalo easily enough. hope that helps a bit!

Well, the wonderful folks here and r/randomactsofpetfood have taken care of food and litter for her, but if you or anyone else wanted to send them to her as well - she'll definitely need them.

http://www.amazon.com/Purina-Instant-Action-Litter-7-pounds/dp/B004I5NB72/ref=wl_it_dp_o_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=H28JJSBQ2CYZ&coliid=IGXJGOFW5SF1V

The sunscreen is definitely huge for her, because she can't leave the house without it even on cloudy days, but I know she needs other things like laundry detergent - I just don't know what sort she uses. If you are interested in helping out, PM me, and I'll let you know what she says when I hear back from her.

Thank you so much :)

Sounds like you might have tried it, but this Natural Balance is pretty good on restrictive diets.

Also, that look. You could be in trouble, hope you don't wake up to any "gifts" in your bed from her.

Good Luck!

Wall of text incoming, sorry. Just trying to give some advice that hopefully helps!:

At Sam's Club, you should be able to buy the Friskies. Usually works out to be a better deal because Fancy Feast are typically 3 oz cans vs the 5-6 oz Friskies cans, and they're pretty equivalent in quality. At my Sams Club, it's about $18 for 36 3-oz cans of Fancy Feast, but $20 for 48 5.5-oz cans of Friskies. Huge value difference. Their variety packs might have fish flavours in them though, which you mentioned as a concern. I am not sure since I don't buy them. I've never heard the fish thing before, personally. I know some shy away from fish based canned food because cats tend to get addicted to the flavour of it easily and will reject other flavours. I give the chicken soup for the cat lover's soul canned food sometimes when I don't have raw food ready for them, and it has salmon in it that they go wild for.

Friskies has more variety too. Have your cats ever eaten canned food? If not, be aware that a lot of cans don't like switching from the dry food, so you might have to do some work to make it work. There's a lot of info online about how to get cats to accept the change.

It's a really good change to make though because cats have evolved relatively little from the African Wild Cat, and they are desert animals. Desert animals get almost all their water from the water content of their prey's bodies. It's unnatural for them to get all their moisture from water dishes. You'll find when they switch 100% to canned food, they'll drink far less water out of the dish. My cats eat raw that is very moist, and I can't remember the last time I saw them drink water.

Anyway, if you want to try Friskies instead, I could suggest you add some of these links to your wishlist. They're variety packs so they would give you some choices, you might find your cats might not like different flavours or different textures (some like pate, some like shreds, whatever).

http://www.amazon.com/Friskies-Savory-Shreds-Turkey-5-5-Ounce/dp/B002CJG1TG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1376084676&sr=8-2&keywords=friskies (has different tabs of different flavour options)

http://www.amazon.com/Friskies-Selects-Indoor-Homestyle-5-5-Ounce/dp/B001G0NKXW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1376084676&sr=8-4&keywords=friskies

http://www.amazon.com/Friskies-Classic-Country-Dinner-5-5-Ounce/dp/B002CJAOT4/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1376084676&sr=8-5&keywords=friskies

http://www.amazon.com/Friskies-Food-Meaty-Gravy-5-5-Ounce/dp/B002CJG29U/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1376084676&sr=8-6&keywords=friskies

Some of these get close to matching the Sams Club price for 48 cans as well, if you wanted to just buy them regularly on there, to avoid the fish kinds. The turkey is like $11 for 24 cans, cheaper on subscribe and save etc, if you ever wanted to regularly buy it on there. If you bought three cases at a time, you'd hit the amount for free shipping ($25), etc.

We are on grain-free for our cats...and low carb since one is prediabetic and fat :( We feed primarily wet food...Fancy Feast is actually really good. Just stick with the classic pate and seafood flavors, no gravy etc. If it says flaked/gravy and so on its not good and will be high in carbs and more likely to have grains added to thicken it up. These are what we get from amazon...http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0010B3FIC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 and http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B001STPJJO?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00
