Random thought: you can dress up your car for halloween with this, just suction cup it to the bumper in front of the FMIC

u/rallykv · 8 pointsr/cats

Thanks darkkon, it would be awesome if you would do that and buy this for her. God bless you.

Previously on Mr. Cat Part 1, /u/rallykv wanted us to get a squeeky mouse toy for Mr. Cat from Amazon - we got it today and now is on display on the livestream!

2 months old? And you are wondering how to "tame" him?! I rescue cats, mostly kittens and there is only one way to "tame" a rambunctious kitten-PLAY WITH HIM! Wear him out. He is a little body with all of this energy that he needs to get out...he is doing what every kitten does if someone doesn't play with them...he knocks over plants, he tears stuff up, he is a terror. Find some toys that are interactive for when you are not there but play with him twice a day for 15-20 minutes or more. I recommend a laser pointer for playtime with him. That wears a kitten out more than anything.

Use a spray bottle, squirt him when he does something you don't want him to do-BE CONSISTENT and don't let him see it come from you. You want him to think...gee, everytime I step on this table, water comes from somewhere and I don't like it. If he knows it comes from you, when you aren't there he will do it.

Here are some toys I like to use for these little guys.

Only use this one under your supervision since he's so small...I have had a kitten get their head stuck and it took a vet to get her out after putting her under anesthetic and using a saw to cut her out.

Also, do you realize that he will be this way for a few more months? Don't play with him using your hands (he will think they are toys and might bite you) and get him a scratching post. He is at the point, if he is two months old, that he can be neutered as well.

Good luck

Try getting some of those toy mice. They tend to be cheap and small, hard but not quite. Cats play and bite the hell out of them!

u/CorgisAndCheese · 4 pointsr/bengalcats

It's like a hamster wheel for cats, bengals tend to love them. And you don't have to get a second bengal, a second cat of any breed would probably be good. You also don't have to get a second cat lol.

Other than someone taking the cat, it's not more of a risk than other cats. I do think other cats being outdoor cats are too much of a risk for them as well. That said there are alternatives for letting a cat enjoy the outdoors without giving them free roam such as harness training them, having a catio for them, or a cat proof fenced in house (which is by far the most expensive and not doable without a ton of property surrounding the house but it is possible lol)

Here are some toy suggestions to help with your kittens energy:

this wand toy which I've seen make even the laziest cat chase after I don't know what it is about this toy specifically maybe it's the leather tassels or the fur thing but I've never not seen it drive a cat crazy.

This cat ball track things

This cat dancer toy with the wall attachment Trust me that the wall attachment is super important.

Really thick pony tail elastics Be sure to watch her and make sure she doesn't try eating one.

Plastic water bottle caps, Christmas ornaments, and bouncy balls are also great things for cats to bat around when they're a bit bored.

Also things for her to climb on, a small cat tree is always great.

Good luck! And do keep in mind that she'll be less energetic as she gets older.

I totally agree on the conflicting info. I’ve found this forum has been so helpful since getting my boy in September last year.

Toys wise some hedgies just don’t enjoy them! I find that mine likes foraging. We put treats in cardboard tubes and boxes and he looks for them. We recently got one of these and he’s learnt how to flip it over.

Poop wise if you’re worried he’s constipated try a warm bath to get things moving. Mine has some tummy trouble when I switched his food over and that seemed to help.

Depending on how old your hedgehog is they can sleep up to 20hr a day. Snoop likes to spend his bonding time hiding and cuddling too but then will go on his wheel for hours after.

Unfortunately, from everything I've gathered this item is almost certainly discontinued. A few personal blogs were expressing their love of the item as well and couldn't find any reputable source to repurchase.

Also due to the nature of the item I doubt anyone has any excess stock as the item seems to have been discontinued recently and abruptly. Sorry for coming up short in the search.

This is the closest alternative I could find: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0032L6404/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_.Wl3Db27KFAJZ

Hope it helps.

Cheers

Try different toys. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CLSK69Z is by far the best toys I've found for both my and my mom's cat. You can tie them to a string toy for a little more interactive play as well.

  1. A safe room is a good idea, at least for a couple days.

  2. We leave dry food out all the time, and then give them wet food once a day. You're going to see a lot of different answers on this one, but as long as your cat doesn't overeat, it should be ok to leave dry food out, that way they can graze any time they want.

  3. We've never bathed our indoor cats.

  4. We buy them lots of cool toys, they tend to like the box it came in the best. Or just a wadded up piece of paper. They do enjoy this cat track. And pretty much any string toy, but of course their favorite is a shoe string.

  5. Get a scratching post and train them to use it. We have several. This one gets a lot of use. And they like this one, too.

  6. Hopefully she'll already be litter box trained.

  7. We have two open litter boxes for our three cats.

Is it springy like a door stop or flexible like a pipe cleaner?

Springy could be a Cat Toy

Flexible could be a lot of things. Baby bottle drier, spoon rest.

Bbmajor is right that it looks exactly like this mobile phone stand except the site says that they are only 5in long, and they look firmer than the one you show.

Edit: this mobile tail thingy looks longer, but the site doesn't list a length. Stick yours to the back of a smartphone and take a photo for comparison. For now I'm siding with Bbmajor.

Try to get a video of birds, squirrels, chipmunks, other cats and see if he watches? Some cats do, some don't. Catnip? It only lasts for ~30 min or so, but it's fun while it lasts. If he doesn't like silly dangly toys, try getting fur-covered mice from the store-- they're super cheap, and my cats LOOOOVE them. Other things you can do is get a simple cardboard box or a paper bag and some clothesline. Cats can't resist hiding in them and chasing the clothesline. Glad he's feeling so good though...kidney disease is a bitch!

Toys for my catbutt for $4.72! He is in desperate need of new toys, and all the ones he love are online and add-on only. He's taken to eating my legs for amusement. Please help.

Today is good because my office is getting lunch ordered in!! Mmm.

I don't know if we can do add ons, but if so this would be great! If we can't, then this would be awesome =) Get your zoo on gurl!

The cat sounds like it's bored and has pent up energy. Pets are like little toddlers: If you dont entertain them, they will do it themselves and it can be destructive at times. Here are some things you can help redirect and expand say energy:

These are just some ideas. Also go to your local pet store. If the cat doesn't like the new toy, usually they will let you return the toy for a full refund.

You can kind of "train" cats. My mom got a box of treats and would call the cats over and when they came she gave them a treat and lots of "good kittys" after about a month they learned to come when they are called, of course it is not right away it takes them a minute and they come over giving off the impression that they decided to come over, but they still come.

Cats will find their own toys with whatever is around the house, I would get a decent laser pointer and a cat dancer, my cats go apeshit over the cat dancer and it is really cheap.
In my experience those cardboard scratching posts work the best and if you have a little time on you hands and some extra cardboard they are easy as hell to make. Just cut the cardboard into strips, glue the strips together and run a ring of duct tape around the entire thing and you have a great scratching pad.

Would a slow feeder toy be a possibility? I let my cats forage food out of one and it's legit just sit and use one paw to get the food out.

This is pretty much my cat arsenal. Not sure if these will work with your man but figured i'd put them out there. I also buy cat sticks for them to chew on but usually you have to supervise them because big chunks get chewed off.

Giant box of balls? Amazon has the three pack of kong balls on sale regularly. I will get my corgi a box of 50 or so balls and he goes crazy opening the box, and then playing with the balls.

Have you ever gotten your corgi one of these?

All time favorite toy for three different corgis. Have to watch them play with it because they get too crazy.

www.amazon.com/dp/B07B9SGMLJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_yCrmDbYHEMEW9 It's smallish though, size comparison next to my grown cat.

I'm sorry for your loss of your sweet Teddy Bear. He is incredibly handsome. You have such awesome pictures to look back on. We lost our kitty of 10 years in October, and it was really hard. I made a little Snapfish book with all the pictures I had of Chichi, and when I was feeling really sad or missing her, I wrote in her book a favorite memory. We just recently (three weeks now I think) got another kitty. It is bittersweet, but I'm excited to make good memories with her. She loooves to play with toys! This is something I think she'd love. Here is a video of her :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQVI0vGKzPw&feature=youtube_gdata_player

it will get better with time, but you'll always miss your special furbaby. hugs
