It's one of those water pen play mats for toddlers that creates marks when wet and returns to normal when dry, some guy saw it and adapted it to create a infinitely reusable chinese calligraphy practice pad. It's really funny to me.

I use this while patrolling, I'd highly recommend it. ^^^^^^^^^^^^I ^^^^^^^^^^^^AM ^^^^^^^^^^^^NOT ^^^^^^^^^^^^A ^^^^^^^^^^^^COP

I would suggest the following device for stupid users.

Note, I understand its not stupid proof(nothing is), but it is stupid resistant.

- individual whiteboards - get them cheap by going to your local home depot or lowes for a large sheet of shower board, they will cut it for you. I have a set of 30 and it cost me less than $15, have lasted 3 years so far and still in decent shape

- plenty of expo markers

- dry erase coordinate plane poster (like this one: https://www.amazon.com/EAI-Education-Jumbo-Magnetic-Coordinate/dp/B01M3MMO6E/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_328_img_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=188T1RBQ4MFP9GSHE087 ) I use this almost every day. Best purchase ever.

- laminator & plenty of sheets

- dice

- fillable geometric solids

- plenty of index cards

-small parts drawer organizer for all of your little needs - paper clips, binder clips, white out, bandaids, the list goes on

I also always keep an eye out at goodwill for calculators, can usually find scientific calculators for under a dollar, maybe if I keep looking I'll actually have a class set one of these days :)

When i did a trip with my kid at 18mths old (he is the same will not sleep unless in his bed usually) I had multiple items at the ready and would swap once i saw him loosing interest. Things other than the ipad that he loved, books ( he loves when you read to him), water wow books from Melissa and Doug, I got a monthly pill organizer and filled each little spot with a treat like puffs, cherrios, fruit snacks etc and he would work on opening and closing the little doors to find what was inside ( he was more excited to open and close than actually eat it). I also had his fav stuffed animal, a little bear he could work on buckles etc.
I travelled early in the morning because he is well behaved in the morning. He slept like crap the night before we returned and only the ipad would work ( i got him little headphones we practiced using so as not to annoy others) he watched the ipad for about 30 mins and i noticed he was drifting and i took him out his seat and held him as he slept all the way back ( i actually had him just sit in the airline seat and sent his carseat as baggage, i know having them in the carseat is safer so please don't judge it was what worked best for him)

[This] (https://www.amazon.com/Kahootz-EVSKAHOO01300-1160-Fashion-Plates-Deluxe/dp/B00IZN74H6) was my favorite toy when I was little. Saw it the other day at Target and wanted to buy it. :)

u/spookyjeff · 3 pointsr/dndnext

I bought 4 color changing bulbs and change the lighting to fit the scene (purples and greens for a fungus cave, greens and blues for forests, etc.) These can also be used outside of gaming!

I also have lap white boards to track all kinds of things during the game. I give one to a player to track initiative and use one for tracking monster HP. Other players use them to track various things as well and they can be used as modular maps in a pinch.

Similarly I got these blank ID cards because they're actually dry erase! They aren't super useful compared to the mini white boards, I end up using them for MTG instead.

A 1-inch hole punch can be used to create super cheap tokens (print monster faces on card stock.)

u/canibuyatrowel · 3 pointsr/nostalgia

I saw them at Target tonight! I'm sure a little different, but the concept was still very much the same. In the arts and crafts section.

Edit: here on Amazon - apparently, according to the reviewers, they didn't change much! Fashion Plates Deluxe Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IZN74H6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_8IIlzbVREKZCE

u/LastGlass1971 · 3 pointsr/CPTSD

Thank you for the tip! I might just have to buy a set of Fashion Plates, which I adored as a kid.

Try checking if she might have a wishlist on amazon. I am a high school teacher and we get left out a lot but I made one as I run across things that would be cool but didn’t tell anyone because I don’t think anyone would care.
Also, one of my favorite things I bought were white board paddles. I use them for games and quick checks of understanding. This is the set I have: https://www.amazon.com/Quick-Response-Whiteboards-Mini-Erasers/dp/B009R1GDHC/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=white+board+paddles&qid=1559148687&s=gateway&sprefix=white+board+pad&sr=8-4

We could really use this eraser for my daughter. She loves to draw on her easel but we don't have a real eraser for it!

I don't know if I can be particularly witty! I need to get my kite out and try it again. It's a stunt kite. But ...I don't know, fly casual? Is it even possible to really keep control of that thing casually?

u/corcar86 · 2 pointsr/beyondthebump

Just bought my 3 year old niece an aquadoodle mat there are tons of different ones on Amazon but the cool part is they color with water and it dries and goes away so they can use it over and over again with no mess of paints or crayons.

Basically it's this video without the fancy canvas things I can't get where I'm at.

I instead took cheap kids whiteboard marker tablets that are around at a local art/office/teacher supply store for like $3 a piece. At the same store, I found of black backed page protectors that would work perfectly to cover all the whiteboard and "blackout" the screen without any work, I also got matching black duct tape.

I'll post the final product once I get it printed after any adjustments based on the comments I get.

  1. Get a dry erase board for your fridge! It's great for notes for reminders, shopping lists, telling your roommate to do her dishes, etc.

  2. The Art of Manliness is a funny site that has a lot of great life tips and skills. Think Ron Swanson type advice. It's geared towards men obviously, but ladies should have these skills too!

  3. Keeping a notepad and dry erase board (see above) in the kitchen has helped cut down on the clutter. My kitchen is kind of the dumping ground of random stuff and to-do-lists, so having a dedicated "notes" area helps consolidate the random bits of paper.

  4. Improving my posture and effort in clothes has helped me a lot with confidence. Just looking alert and put together makes me feel so much better, and I make sure to always throw on a pair of jeans or similar before going out. Wearing athletic clothes/leggings/sweats out always made me feel sloppy, but just wearing actual clothes instantly improves my attitude. And people respond better, which is an added boost. Loose skirts are super easy ways to dress up an outfit.

  5. Check out r/awww. It's my favorite source for smiles :)

I use this as a notebook + some fine tip dry erase markers

I don't use a planner, but a dry erase board was a great tool for me to draw out a month calendar and see everything graphically. It's also good for random lists around the house you want to write down before you forget. There are some cheap ones or you can buy a big one with a calendar built in

u/netherous · 1 pointr/learnprogramming

I mean something like this. It's small. Accidentally wiping it off is not a major peril.

My daughter has also really liked these letter/number tracing sheets:
http://shared.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/phonics/A-Ztracer.pdf

We use them under a clear dry erase surface that lets you slip various sheets under it. Something like this:

In my wish list, two of the big things I want are a big (256 piece) box of crayons/markers and a nice set of individual white boards.

u/Trishlovesdolphins · 1 pointr/breakingmom

You can still find the old water ring games online and sometimes in stores. Same with the Woolly Willy toys and these sketch pads

u/chopperdave48 · 0 pointsr/ipad

That's awesome! I do feel obligated to say that you could probably do the same thing on a device that costs 15$, though.
