It's a collapsible chopstick. Connect the metal cover to the metal end of the wooden chopstick to extend its length for eating.

I think it springs open more if you're not holding it shut, like it opens up to an inch or so.

Edit: Actually there's a diagram that shows this, you can also just break it into two pieces and use them as real chopsticks.
The cheater mode actually looks annoying as hell to use though.

There's non disposable wooden chopsticks that you can buy. The wood is definitely better quality.

I've been pretty hesitant with adding off-beat items for fear that the guests/older family members would respond poorly to them, but this thread has given me new life! Some other things I've added are:

Or is it a pretty cool, free, dishwasher-safe gift? www.amazon.com/dp/B00GA6FSLE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_na0ADb9CDJRYP

Birthday Bot sings Happy Birthday to you.

I've been married for more than 5 years and we still do not have any kids. Most people think that's interesting (or weird).

These would be great or you could surprise me.

u/LessRhetoricPlease · 2 pointsr/AskCulinary

I recently bought these via Amazon. 5 pairs for 7 bucks. Stainless -- they perform well, I run them through the dishwasher without issue.

Since "Der Bauer" cooperated with the design of the case, you could call it "Darth Bauer". You could add a couple of laser sable chopsticks to give extra theme feeling https://www.amazon.com/Lightsaber-Reusable-Chopsticks-Multi-Color-Modes/dp/B07N1225VG/

You can go to most any Korean store and get them for like a dollar a pair. Koreans use the metal ones the most.

This is what they sell for a dollar a pair. A 12 pack for 7.99 is a pretty good deal.

These Joyce Chen brand are pretty easy to find, I've bought them in grocery stores but they tend to be more expensive there. I like them because they are not too expensive, comfortable to use (which is the real thing to consider), and I find I can clean and reuse them for a while before they need to be thrown out (I only reuse for myself, never for guests). This sort of depends on what you eat with them, they are unsealed bamboo so they do absorb sauces, etc.. You can buy ornate lacquered chopsticks which are both nicer to look at and probably last longer but cost more of course, they are more like artwork than anything else. Koreans use stainless steel chopsticks but I find them hard to use.

There's also chopsticks that look like these, where you have some fun plastic thingy to help you use them.

Failing that, tip whatever you're intending to eat into a bowl and use a spoon or similar implement. Alternatively, for le real slobbe <-- sophisticated spelling! just 'drink' it, out of said bowl (or mug maybe?)

Unfortunately that was a one-of-a-kind mock up, but you can buy a wristwatch- or bracelet-style locket!

Some of them are made as perfume diffusers (this one, and another, and one more, this one looks solid but is ventilated) so the front face will be perforated/filigree to release the perfume. Others have a hinged or screw-on transparent face just like the one in the video (here, or without a band, or these ones if you can remove the flowers.)

Collapsible/retractable chopsticks do exist in a few styles including this one but they may not fit into a wristwatch.

I have two arcade machines in my home, and I can play pretty much whatever I want on them :D These chopsticks are totally missing from my home because I eat too much Korean food xD

My favorite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast. I identify with Belle, I love the story, and the scenery is beautiful! Oh and not to mention the awesome freaking sound track. I love it. Second place is tied between Mulan and Aladdin. Third place Lion King because I watched it hundreds of times as a kid.

I was assuming normalish chopstick length. These are probably closer to what you want then https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Chopsticks-Cooking-Frying-Noodle/dp/B07DQMYTP4

u/renational · 1 pointr/sushi

here it's for much less shipping if you want to try this idea out;

http://www.amazon.com/Inteliventor-6-FUNCHOP-Chopstick-Helpers/dp/B002IFNZYI

here is another variation;

http://www.amazon.com/Chop-Cheater-Chopstick-Hinges-PCH-1/dp/B002LUTRCY

i only use chopsticks when i go out for sushi, so i slip these on to any disposable wooden or the dishwasher safe hard plastic sticks many restaurants use, and nobody is the wiser about my normally inept stick handing.

u/EeveeInMyPocket · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Ooooo those look tasty! And they'd look great along side our actual chopsticks!

u/believecmv · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon
