My husband & I are doing our first real valentines dinner date ever. We’re military so things have always come up that prevent us from livin our best valentine’s life. We’re having dinner at a relatively nice restaurant (the same one he proposed to me) so I decided to dress up a bit.

I’ll be wearing this. It’s out of my comfort zone a bit but he’s always wanted to see me in something like this so I decided to go for it.

Hello! Taking engagement photos a week from Friday. This is what I have picked out to wear (different shoes). The dress isn’t quite the right size in this photo, which is causing the waistline to ride up a little—hoping when the next size up comes in Wednesday, it will sit right. This is the dress.

My best friend feels like it looks a little too business casual / frumpy / doesn’t really show off my figure, and that the dress is too long. I really like the length, and I’m hoping having the right size dress will fix the figure thing, but I guess I get where she’s coming from with the “business casual” criticism. Should I take a couple of pictures with just the cardigan and not the scarf? I don’t have much in the way of cleavage, but maybe that would help? Any other suggestions? Am I worrying over nothing? I do want to look autumn-y, whatever I do.

Maybe something like this and altering it?

Shortening the length, and replacing the straps with the gold halter top like string (Plus the black bow). The back goes down a bit father than that dress, but it's the closest I've found so far for shape and what not. I'm not terribly sure though. From the pictures in the reviews it might be do-able.

But If that’s not your style/price point take those same search terms to a brand you do like.

Wide shoulders can be an advantage because it makes your waist appear thinner.
