I would suggest you to buy a mid grade cricket bat and a hanging ball like this to start with.
hope you find a suitable place which allows you to practice freely without restrictions. Something like a football goal post ( but much taller) would be great. This will help you in meeting the ball regularly and not be a complete novice. But please note this is only for you get used to steering the ball in the direction you want.

One disadvantage is, this will not prepare you for steep bounce or spin.

But couple of tips I would suggest is, after you are better with this setup, wear a cap with the flap in such a way that it blocks out your field of view until the ball is very near to you. Also, can have some one throw the ball at you at close quarters. Will improve reaction times.

Adjusting height the ball hangs from the ground will give practice for different lengths.
Helped me greatly during my school years without bothering anyone.

It's on amazon prime, and it's $30

Edit: Anything I can do to enable you to hit a fucker with a cricket bat, I am here for you.

I would open a throw away account to post a question like this, too. There are Milspec M1/M14 rubber butt pads. https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Arms-Gear-Insignias-Springfield/dp/B008UAQ06A

Other than that, I would recommend a AR-15 with a H3 buffer, gamer internals, and pink anodizing for you.

Buy a Cricket Bat from your local Indian store or Amazon, don’t spend a ton, but make sure you buy a wooden bat.

if you feel if the ball is too light, try wrapping another layer of electric tape, that's what we used to do.

edit: but if you want a better tennis ball to play cricket with go for these http://www.amazon.com/Mani-Tennis-Cricket-Ball-brand/dp/B00A64CQMK/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1397147102&sr=8-6&keywords=ca+cricket+balls.

You can try these. Much closer in weight to a cricket ball than a tennis ball. Add electrical tape and it's manageable.

Solved! most likely it is a cricket slip catching cradle, used by the nearby cricket club for practice.

You forgot one thing. A rubber band to tie your beard up! Not many people are aware of the heavy bolt. Pricey but worth it. Did you try el- china recoil pad for AR for $9? Might help. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LU8CN1K/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_rxyBDbHK907GM

The zombies ate my brains yet I was able to come up with a couple items:

  • Cricket Bat - not necessarily unusual thanks to Shawn of the Dead, but unusual to own in the US. Would be great for smashing heads.
  • Sickle - not quite as good for range, but would be good for beheading.
  • A Spear would be good to keep them at range and run less risk of a bite.
  • You could be a badass like Tyrese in the Walking Dead comic and use a regular old Claw Hammer
  • Some leather forearm guards would be good for reducing your chance of a bite while using any melee weapons.
  • You could also go all Dead Rising and carry around a stack of traffic cones to slap on their heads...

Gotta get back to work, but thanks for this it was amusing...

One would think they would be buying cricket bats and riot with them.

With this: Cricket bat

Dressed like this: Cricket outfit

And also wearing this: Cricket hat

-"I say there William, shall we break in and take a telly?"

-"That would be alright. After tea then?"

-"Indubitably"

I find these are perfect for backyard play with my kids. It's made of plastic'y material, hollow inside and perfect for playing on a firm surface. You can hit it fairly hard with a bat without sending it out of the ground every time (like the "cricket tennis balls").

These have been posted here before. I have no idea which is better or how well they would work, though.
