  • Gloves.
  • Shoe Covers.
  • Balaclava.
  • Snow Tires. (Only good with disc brakes)

This is just a start, but these are some things I've used and things I've seen. Those gloves are impregnable to wind, and are incredibly warm in sub-freezing temps.

A pair of lobster gloves work great. They may be goofy looking, but they give you nice control and warmth at the same time.

Good luck, and keep on ridin'!

Did a tri and the 56 mile bike ride killed my hands (Wisconsin roads SUCK), I ride a road bike without aerobars and stay in the drops the entire time. I lost feeling in half my hand for weeks, maybe even months. It was totally brutal and typing was a challenge. I can't say whether I fixed it or not until September when I have another one. But so far I've seen improvement adding extra padding on the drops under the tape. The LBS dude actually doubled up the padding for me on the drops and didn't use it in the other places it was meant for. I was also using these gloves which are shit. The padding on them is pretty hard that I think it made the problem worse.

I like the extra padding on the drops and recommend doing the same thing to see if it makes a difference for you. Get LBS to do it and if you are really particular about one place to rest your hands on the bike have them target that area with a bit of extra padding.

Oh cool! I will totally be checking out CC creams!

Also, I just felt my credit card jump out of my wallet. I swear I didn't touch it.

There gloves that you can get for ultimate. It depends on you entirely. I don’t wear them at all because I lose the sense for how I hold the disc.

I got these for my son and he loved them.

Oh, and for gloves, I have always preferred lobster style, like these, though I do not know if those particular ones are good.

I use the men's version, but they're good to like 10F for me and if it's colder I put a thin pair of liners in them.

I have these gloves They are really good and waterproof. They run a size small. I live in MO. Perfect for temps from 25-40.
If you are wearing cleats I like shoe covers so you do not have to wear crazy socks to kill the cold. I have gone through several pair. I like the bontrager water proof boots. they are light weight and water proof.
Lastly if you do not want boots go to an outdoor store and get fleece shoe liners. That helps a ton and is a cheap fix. Problem is on longer rides they can get sweaty.
To give you an idea I ride about 20 miles each way to work 3 days a week.

So I just bought these gloves and I was all excited to wear them and then a few miles in had to take them off because they were killing my hands. I had hot spots on my palms under my thumbs that would have certainly turned to blisters if I had continued. They also hurt the webs of my hands a lot too.

Am I holding the handlebars wrong? Are the gloves the wrong size? Do some people just not do well with gloves?
