There’s so much stuff like this, too. Diaper bags get the military treatment way too often. It’s like someone out there doesn’t realize that you can be a father without military training.

every day carry diaper bag with a holster. they push it enough to make products for it. you were saying?

I love my Diaper Dude bag.

Swapped my usual backpack diaper bag for this LV beauty at the airport this a.m. Fit everything I needed for me and 9mo baby! (TS Nina)

6 months in: we got a ton of crap. Here's what we actually used:

Baby car seat and base: Make sure the one you get is a rear facing one. Find a model/make that has the detachable base and fits into a stroller. example: graco If you have two cars, get two bases. It will save you from having to install the seat each time you need it. Just install the base once and you are done. If you are unsure of the install, check with your local police or fire department, they might have someone that is "certified" to install them. If you do find a deal on used ones, check the expiration date. They are required to have one. AND NEVER USE ONE THATS BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT.

Furniture:

Crib, sheets, mattress pad covers(3-4) bouncy chair, Boppy pillow, nursing pillow(if mom is nursing)

Diaper bag with changing station: Is a diaper bag that can unfold to a portable changing station anywhere. example <- dont get this one too expensive. Shop around.

Consumables

Diapers; if you plan on using disposables. Avoid getting newborns as they're usually only good for a week or two at the most. Stock up on 1,2,3 sizes. Wait for the sales and coupons at the local stores then buy, buy buy. You can never have too many. If you switch sizes, you can either save them for the next or donate them. No shelter will turn away free diapers. When you think you have enough, buy two more cases.

Same with wipes. Generally the wipes and diapers go on sale at the same time. Buy buy buy. You can never have too many. Keep an eye on coupons. we were able to get boxes for 2$ each with a combo sale/coupon.

Diaper Geni: Trust me. Get one. FYI, you can get generic refills online for 1/2 price.(amazon)

Spit up rags, there are as many out there as you can think of. Wanna save money? kitchen towels. Cheap, buy in bulk, they do the same job as the "baby spit up rags" but without the added "Baby" price tag.

Wearables

Swaddles: newborns love the swaddle(most of them). there are two kind, the wrap and the cheat. The wrap is just basically a small towel that any nurse can show you how to use. The cheat uses velcro. Halo sacks are a good name brand.

I really like the skip hop brand ones, which I find very resistant/easy to clean. I had a regular diaper bag for my first born, and am getting a backpack one for the second, looking forward to not having the bag sliding from my shoulder or jumping around when I wear the baby. Color gender neutral as well so it can be passed between both parents.

u/wicksa · 4 pointsr/nursing

I wear surgical scrubs and have learned to travel light. I keep my phone, a pen and a pair of bandage scissors in my shirt pocket, my cell phone in my butt pocket. I keep my stethescope at the nurses station until I need to use it.

You will soon master the art of holding your arm over your boob when you bend over so all your stuff doesn't fall out into a puddle of urine. I also take everything out of my pocket and set it on the bedside table before doing something like starting an IV or inserting a foley, so it doesn't fall all over the patient.

Some nurses I work with have small bags with supplies in them that they bring on the floor with them. Some hang them off their COWs or keep them at the nurses station and grab what they need when they need it.

Maybe try one of these. Less noticable than a fanny pack, less likely to rub against patients/beds.

u/ambuffalo · 4 pointsr/BabyBumps

I love and prefer the backpack style because it is so much easier to carry and doesn't fall forward when you bend over while wearing it. I just purchased this one for the new baby (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00OIX7XYQ/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and I'm in love! It has so many pockets and compartments and the padding on the back and straps are really nice. I ordered the blue dot color but it really looks purple in person. I love the color but just something to keep in mind. I like that it has the wipe holder on the interior because my experience with the ones on the exterior are that the wipe case flap always breaks open by getting snagged.

u/rabidstoat · 3 pointsr/news

Okay Amazon has this and the description talks about a concealed carry compartment for a Glock or something.

I can't tell if they're just joking around about it being tactical gear and are just making a military-style diaper 'bag' or if they are truly intending it to meet the needs of people who think they simultaneously need guns and diapers. I think the gun part was a joke but... I don't even know anymore.

u/glaceauglaceau · 3 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I love Lo & Sons. The bags are nylon but very good quality and nice looking, and well organized. Most importantly they're very lightweight! The [TT,] ( https://www.loandsons.com/the-tt?product=49) Brookline and OMG would all suit your needs. Follow them on Facebook because they're always posting 20-30% off coupons. I own the OMG and love it, it's a great diaper bag and travel bag.

Another option is the Rebecca Minkoff Knocked Up baby bag. I know it says it's a diaper bag but it's lightweight, great quality and has lots of organization.

u/spacepiratetabby · 3 pointsr/BabyBumps

That's definitely a beautiful bag! I've spilled so much apple juice inside my diaper bag I would be wary of having one so nice. I currently have a plain black Skip Hop bag, which is perfectly functional, but I really want this slightly more fashionable Skip Hop French Stripe bag I saw on Amazon. It's basically the same as my current one but it's just much nicer looking!

u/ohmmho · 3 pointsr/BabyBumps

I got the Skip Hop Duo Signature Diaper Bag in Chevron. I also bought the sugarSNAP files to organize it, at the recommendation of another bumper :)

u/nikkisalei · 3 pointsr/BabyBumps

I bought this one based on the great reviews.

u/Junieunieaa · 3 pointsr/BabyBumps

I received a messenger style diaper bag at my shower with number one, which worked well for the first few months and it's ok if we are going somewhere for a short time now. Once I really needed to load that thing down, it holds very little and is extremely bulky, I became pretty dang annoyed and switched to a regular LL bean backpack. It holds way more. Unfortunately, my LL bean backpack has patches from like 3rd grade all over it. :/ So, this time around I am treating myself to an Okkatots Baby Depot Diaper Bag Backpack. I am super jazzed! It will have more than enough room for both my babes crap! On mobile, I don't know how to fancy link, so her ya go!

My kiddo's potty-trained, but we'll be using these again with #2, when and as. :)

For out-and-about, I liked the Planetwise Wet/Dry ones (link), since I could keep clean diapers in the "dry" section and find them easily.

For the diaper pail at home, I used this one: Kissaluvs

u/Hammerhead_brat · 2 pointsr/beyondthebump

This here is the diaper bag we have. I love it. The insulated pockets work well. We put the diapers in the bottom of the bag and extra stuff on top of the diapers and we’re able to reach the diapers easily through the back zipper. Let’s see... we typically have two blankets rolled up in two stretchy pockets inside, 3-4 onesies rolled up and in a pocket, a hat and socks and mittens in another pocket. We keep spare baby lotion and body wash in the inside zipper pocket. Diapers in the bottom that can be reached through the back or top. Wipes in the outside wipe pocket though we just pull the wipe container out instead of pulling wipes through the opening. And I keep my wallet and phone in the other side pocket. Three bottles and some breast pads in the insulated pocket with some room left for an ice pack if we take a longer trip.

u/alsoaperson · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

I have something like this in my diaper bag and I like it. I wish it had a hard base so it would always stay flat (i used to have a piece of cardboard in it) but otherwise I very much like all the extra pockets it provides, and the way you can lift the whole thing out.

u/radioactivebutterfly · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

I have this one from Skip Hop and I like it so much that I bought a second one to take to work with my pump.

u/habutai · 2 pointsr/beyondthebump

Others have said this, but really amazon has the best offerings. There's a lot of backpack ones. This is the one I woulda gotten had we not gotten a bag as hand me down from DH's coworker: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00K2RXZXA/ref=mp_s_a_1_36?qid=1411772915&sr=8-36&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

Loove cloth diapers. I've been really happy with them. Fewer leaks and blow outs than disposable, I love the way they smell like... clothes, not diapers. Plus $$ savings.

I was really intimidated buying stuff. I dabbled, a few of these, a few of those, and have settled on my favs which I pass along as recommendations for friends, but I still do just fine using ones I don't care for - they still work! So you can't go "wrong" per se.

Anyway, I posted this a couple weeks ago, but this is my "ideal stash" if I could go back in time and start from scratch. You can buy all these on amazon (easy registry) OR Nicki Diapers on black friday for some extra savings (which is what I did back in the day). I know the list is huge and overwhelming, sorry! But if you click through it I think you'll get an idea of quantities etc. that will get your baby's bum covered.

Newborn stash (for babies up to 11 or 12 pounds, my focus here is CHEAP since it's a limited time): Cotton prefolds, size small or Size small newborn prefolds, bamboo (I like the little bit of stretch) I say 30 of these, so if you forget laundry it's not the end of the world Cotton ones are good too.

Pack of snappis to secure the prefolds .

Blueberry newborn covers I prefer the snaps to velcro because the velcro attracted fuzz in the dryer and really weren't more difficult to secure. I vote for 4 covers minimum, never had a problem with that amount. You can reuse them each change until epic poop which gets on them from the prefold.

Post newbron. This is your big stash - I started using these diapers when my daughter was 3 months and still use them when she's almost 3. For these I prioritized ease of wash, use, and durability over being as cheap as possible.

BumGenius Freetime The ultimate diaper, washes awesome stays soft, effective, dries fast. I'd suggest 12 of these, this is the diaper you use all the time.

Bumgenius Pockets For your big pee-ing times (aka night) it can be nice to have a "pocket diaper" which you can stuff more in they're chunky but night time is not time to care about a slim bum I stuff with prefolds, the bamboo inserts are slimmer and work too, but I guess I am just more used to cotton prefolds because that's what i grab for. I think 2 pocket diapers is sufficient. My issue with these is that the "inserts" don't really reliably "agitate out" in the wash as they are supposed to, which is why I prefer the Freetime.

Extras:

Baby washcloths I have 24, use them for wiping, easier than a chunky prefold for baby crevasses.

Garbage Bag I use this to line a trash can, throw all dirties in, take everything (bag and all) straight to the wash, toss/empty,wash it all (bag too) use bag 2 during laundry. I suggest 2 of these.

On the go bag For dirty y when you are out of the house (or dirtied clothes)

Cloth diaper friendly bum lotion If your kid's rash isn't clearing up with this, take out disposables, get the classic drug store butt paste etc. sooner rather than later and take care of it (bad rashes suck) Some kids just need that approach - you'll figure it out when the time comes.

Okkatots Travel Baby Depot Backpack Bag - Black by Okkatots http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007A3GU72/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_FGjmtb1Q6FQ8Y we bought this one. It is huge and holds everything we need from day to day and when we travel to see the relatives. They have smaller versions if you don't want something so giant. It has pockets for everything, diaper dispenser, pacifier pocket, insulated pocket for bottles/snacks. Everything is easily accessible.

u/hottoddy4me · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

I also have a 2 year old and one on the way. I got these for Christmas and love them so far. But I won't know how successful they are until the baby comes in March. So far, with just toddler stuff, its awesome.

u/Serifem · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

I got this in grey with orange zippers: http://www.amazon.com/Diaper-Dude-Bag-Black/dp/B000G2B2PY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407348152&sr=8-1&keywords=diaper+dude

I liked it because it doesn't have open side pockets like most bags, it doesn't look girly (not a fan personally), it's carried over the shoulder, good size without being overly huge, decent/okay price, great reviews, and I think it will last past baby stages for trips to amusement parks and such.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/workingmoms

I feel this mama. People always comment about home many bags I carry into work everyday -- purse, computer bag, lunch bag and pump bag. My pump bag is actually a big diaper bag that can fit all my pumping supplies; spectra pump, hands free pump bra, supplies and spectra insulated cooler cooler with small ice pack. My kids have cubbies at daycare so all we have to take each day is bottles. See if you can do something similar. If possible, I will put my lunch bag in my work bag, and I sometimes just put my wallet in my work bag and leave my purse (hidden) in my car.

u/ElizabethLTCD · 1 pointr/clothdiaps

I have this diaper backpack and I use it for my two kids (19 months apart). I love that it opens at the top--so much more room!

u/Jc590 · 1 pointr/beyondthebump

I'm obsessed with this bag! It fits everything I need and I get so many compliments on it. I loved the Fawn Design bags but that wasn't in our budget. Then I stumbled upon this dupe and I'm so happy with it! I have the light grey color.

u/achilles91 · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

I'm getting this one. I really want a backpack for the hands free option, but also wanted to be a little bit fashionable. It's a dupe of the Fawn Design bag, which I couldn't stomach buying (it would be around $250 to get it to Canada!). The alternative I found can be worn as a backpack or messenger bag, comes with a change pad and has a bunch of insulated pockets for bottles. It's $60 CDN and has free shipping, so that's a complete win in my books!! https://www.amazon.ca/Miss-Fong-Backpack-Changing-Stroller/dp/B01NBU6QJT?th=1

MOLLE and certain color schemes have classically been a military style but it hasn't stayed there. There's plenty of mall ninjas who have been using it for years and plenty of people who simply like the look, comfort, or usability. If I see someone with such a bag I don't even think twice about it any more unless something about their behavior sets me off.

I regularly carry around this [Tactical diaper bag](https://www.amazon.com/Backpack-Waterproof-Tactical-Insulated-Multi-Function/dp/B01N22CPFI/ref=sr_1_1_sspa? keywords=tactical+diaper+bag&qid=1573148657&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFDME5WWlNLTzRTVjUmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTAyNTQ4MTUxTEFIVEVPNzg5QUNHJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA2ODgwMzQzU0lVTTFZWDlWN1lPJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==)(doody bag) complete with biohazard and poo patches. Apart from being intentionally tacticool just because, it's an excellent diaper bag that is very comfortable to carry.

HapTim Multi-function Baby Diaper Bag Backpack W/ Stroller Straps- Insulated Pockets- Changing Pad Included, Nylon Fabric Waterproof for Moms & Dads(Dark Gray-5279) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MDPLBHM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_cokqzb4BSWE1N

FTM of twins so we haven't used it, but my husband and I picked this one out since it was something we both could carry. It's not too feminine, but still looks stylish.

The top opens up huge so you can see everything well inside. The construction also seems very sturdy and I like the handles on it. But you can also wear it as a backpack or hook it to a stroller.

The price is really affordable too.

u/ambut · 1 pointr/OctoberBumpers2017

I got this one on sale on Prime Day and I think it should be good. I intentionally got a unisex style. It stands upright on its own with a flat bottom and has pockets inside for organization, plus a pocket on each side on the outside, and another front pocket that zips. There is a changing pad inside. It can hook onto a stroller but since it's a little big, I will probably just carry it on my back or put it in the stroller's basket to avoid throwing the stroller off-balance. Obviously I haven't put it into service yet, but I like the look of it.

u/fortissima · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

I bought this Rebecca Minkoff bag a little while ago. Its a diaper bag, but a lot of people online (Corporette, for one) have touted it as a great work bag. I finally took the plunge and I have to say that I LOVE it.

It has like eight interior pockets (because it's a diaper bag) and a lot of space inside. It's pretty large but it's mostly nylon--very high-quality nylon--with leather trimming so it's also pretty light. It's about 2.5lb if I remember correctly. It's very well balanced. The handles have a long drop so they can be slung over the shoulder, but it also comes with a nice shoulder strap. You'll have to use a laptop case inside, which may or may not be a dealbreaker for you. Personally, I find it to not be an issue.

This bag also doubles as a good weekend bag, as well as a carryon bag for flights.

I can see it not being everyone's cup of tea, particularly since it's not all leather. But if you need a lot of space and structure in a bag that isn't very heavy, I think this one fits the bill very well.

EDIT: I should note that I have a 13" Macbook Pro. It would easily fit a bigger computer. (15" definitely.)

u/letherunderyourskin · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

I find there is a middle road on durable, fashionable diaper bags. Lots of them these days are made to be extremely functional and have fabrics/surfaces that are easy to wipe down from spills and messes - no reason to keep needing replacement. Skip Hop makes some nice ones. This bag is what I've had for 2.5 years and it still looks brand new. It is a little bulky at times though, I'll admit.

u/blue_dAze · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

I got this one from my Amazon registry, they had this one and a dark blue with white polka dots. I really like that I can carry it like a backpack rather than a bulky ass purse and everything is hidden and tucked in.http://m.imgur.com/uXE3IKD,8oenyoZ,aGTNq6R,YwJwRnA,aZMxH7U,hi1Ggxb,xSxbfiT

u/kyriya · 1 pointr/Wishlist

I know this may seem a little crazy, it's technically a diaper bag.

I actually use one now as a purse cause of all the pocket space and they still look like an actual tote. I use the outside pockets that would hold bottles to actually hold my water bottle. And the extra accessories/bags that come with it could hold pens/pencils. Earbuds. Anything really.

u/guardiancosmos · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

I put this one on my registry (and received it). It's in a color I love, It's big enough while not being massive, it's not a backpack (I hate backpacks), and it's inexpensive. All wins in my book.

I'm definitely a jeans and t-shirt person myself, but I like bright colors.
