The one I bought is from Pebblesmart, on Amazon. It is kind of complicated looking, but basically there is an extended space for him to nose, about 4 inches wide.

you can also head to a craft store and get some string and a bell. tie the bell to the string, and the string to the door knob.

I have a smaller dog and we potty trained her this way. super effective! we no longer need the bell but we trained the other dog with it, and the first dog started using it again immediately.

edit: there are fancy dog door bells on Amazon! $7.33 for this one:

I got this one off Amazon for $10: www.amazon.com/dp/B00R6RHH7O/ . Screwed it into the wall about a foot off the floor with drywall anchors. Anchors are a good idea, my puppy now likes to attack the bell when he's excited and wants to go out.

And my puppy's huge already (was ~16lbs at 8 weeks, ~20lbs now at 11 weeks), so I think his size helps him with bladder control. Smaller dogs probably have to relieve themselves more often.

I've posted this in another question but I'll say it again. Our maltese was good about going outside when we took her but she didn't know how to tell us she needed to go when we gradually spread out time between potty breaks. We got some bells for the front door and had her ring them every time we took her out so she really quickly associated the bells with going outside. Now she rings them whenever she needs to go and we can hear it from across the apartment and know to take her out.

you can go to a craft store and buy bells and a strip of fabric if you're crafty and know how to secure it properly. I purchased mine from a pet store. Something like this: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=18260026&f=PAD%2FpsNotAvailInUS%2FNo

My parents have a button that makes sound when you press it that they have Velcro'd to the carpet next to the door. Works just the same and it's actually comical becuase my dad managed to find one that says "GOTTA GO!" lol My dad got it off of amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Gotta-Go-Button/dp/B00D7X5U3E
