Some (audiophile) favourites - note that all recommendations are CD's, as this music deserves to be lossless

You. You got it right.

Something I think you will enjoy: DJ DB - The Secret Art Of Science (Full Album)... Get it somehow. You will be happy.

Acid Jazz is techno/electronica/house music that has been "jazzified". That means either live instruments or just samples from jazz classics.

If you know what's good for you, you'd close that door, drop that acid, and crank up The Very Best of This is Acid Jazz

Perhaps give James Hardway's Ladies of Jazz Remixed a listen? It's more down-tempo than house, but places more emphasis on the vocals.

Dungeonmaster's Guide is what I usually fall back on if I'm working on something else.

Anything by Pendulum can be a real winner, too. For more chillout (more of my taste), I highly recommend The K&D Sessions. The session of Jazz Master on there is fantastic.

|artist|Jaga Jazzist|
|about artist|Jaga Jazzist is an experimental jazz band from Tønsberg, Norway, that rose to prominence when the BBC named their first official album, A Livingroom Hush (Smalltown Supersound/Ninja Tune), the best jazz album of 2002. The core of the band are brothers and main songwriters Lars Horntveth and Martin Horntveth. Martin formed Jaga Jazzist together with Ivar Christian Johansen in 1994 while they still were in their teens. Johansen later left the group to start other projects like Ravi (hip hop). One of the nicer things about the Jungle tools Library is that it's vinyl - it just sounds warm and real.

Amazon has it in Vinyl AND in CD formats:

If you haven't looked into, the D.A.N.C.E. remixes EP from that time is also well worth owning. My two favorite versions are the Alan Braxe Remix and the Live version, but they're all good.

Also, if you feel like getting really hardcore, grab the Waters of Nazareth EP which predates Cross. It has some raw gems like Carpates.

I believe that this is what you're looking for

"Here" By Gridlock on Further

"Return to Forever" by Chick Corea on Return to Forever

"Ultravisitor" by Squarepusher on Ultravisitor

"Un poco sostenuto - Allegro" by Brahms, Symphony #1

"Oiseaux Tristes and Jeux D'eau", two pieces by Maurice Ravel.

I could go on and on and on.. the only reason I listen to fuckin' music is to escape reality, dude.

Our group listens to this album every time we partake. Probably not for everyone, but it's pretty damn amazing under the influence, IMO. http://www.amazon.com/Supermodified-Amon-Tobin/dp/B00004TKNV

Sidewalk chalk is fun if you're staying in town. My SO and I painted on a big canvas once - that was an awesome experience. But, I try to be outside with a camp fire every time. I know it's hot, but you forget after a while. :) Have fun! I'm jealous, haha!

I'll be rocking this album from LTJ Bukem

and some Tech House mixes from Lee Burridge, Chus & Ceballos, Loco Dice, Martin Buttrich and more @ Mixjunkies - they have tons of sets of house music.

also rocking some Hip hop from the Roots, Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, Fab, Mac Miller...

pretty much my standards there.

One CD that never ever lets me down is DJ Zinc - Beats by Design EP. DJ Zinc is one of the original masters of the dnb scene and this mix album is akin to a drum n bass opera with movements, themes, variations on those themes, and everything you could possibly want. You could show this album to a neophyte and they could hear the progression of drum n bass from chopped up amen samples to micro-managed sounds.
