Thank you!! 😘

I got them on Amazon- Celley Embroidery Hoops, Oval Imitated Wood Design, 7.1 X 9.8 Inches, 3 Pcs https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PS93TZF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_7NDlDbAX3ZTR5

I just rotated the outer ring to align for a horizontal hanging.

I just buy the cheap ones on Amazon. You can improve them by wrapping the under hoop in string or yarn, and they paint or decorate well. For hanging I finish mine like this tutorial (though I sew on that little tab instead of gluing). I know some people have a really good hoop they stitch in and then when it's finished transfer it to a decorated one or display one.

First, you got this. That thing is amazing!!!!

Second, my mom uses a frame like this for her projects. Another perk is it doesn’t get all those hoop lines.

Thanks for the tips!!! Any tips are good tips! I bought a kit that I think may include one of those markers? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D3PYKCV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_PIJTBbJJEHVFN Thanks for the tips!!! I’m really into the subversive cross stitch kits, so I’m thinking once I’m done with my basic shell pattern kit I’ll look into those.

Thank you! I bought this kit on Amazon and I really liked it. My only complaint is the stamped pattern lines are a little thick so you have to be careful to cover them. Also, there is a very helpful video on the listing that shows how to do the different witches.

Depending on the sizes:

  • Practice for stitches I haven't used before (or just always need to re-practice, like french knots).
  • Edgings or small motifs that can then be pieced with fabric to make or embellish other things (example).
  • Bookmark.
  • Stuffing for center of a pincushion.
  • Ornaments.
  • Long narrow pieces can be tied to a wreath form like with burlap
  • Little designs that'll fit in teensy hoops for necklaces.

I've never cross stitched where it's viewable on either side, so someone else can answer about that. You can purchase a water soluble marker for designing on fabric, and/or water soluble fabric for keeping the squares/acts as a guide. I use the pens a bunch and they've always come out, I've used the water soluble fabric once and it worked great.

I'm not actually 100% sure. I ordered this as a beginner kit off of Amazon from a seller called Berya, but it looks like they don't sell this particular one anymore. They do however, have a lot of other lovely sets!

If you put one on your wishlist, I’ll grab it for you 🙂 a week should give prime long enough to send it off, so if you can find something (maybe something like this?), let me know! 😊

Thank you! I used 3inch hoops and I got the 6 pack from Caydo off of Amazon. The only complaint I have is that the blue plastic they put over the metal screw portion to prevent the metal from getting scratched can be frustrating to get off completely, but other than that I really like them so far! Here's a link to the ones I got:

I ordered this starter kit from Amazon and it's been perfect for me. Has everything you need except for the patterns.

Embroidery Starter Kit,100 Color Threads,5 PCS Bamboo Embroidery Hoops,2 PCS 11.8 inches Aida Cloth, and Cross Stitch Embroidery Needle Point Kit Beginner Supplies https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PMVCNM2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_4e-BDbWP46NZA

I also downloaded a few simple patterns I liked from Etsy, and the kind of patterns I want to do don't require exact color matching (words and borders versus something that looks like a painting)

For $30 total I'm off to start and can be occupied for many months.

You can go the easier route and buy a kit that'll give you everything you need to start. The fabric, pattern, needle, thread, and a guide most of the time.

You can find them in a lot of places:

Walmart

Amazon

Etsy

If you want to get everything separately, you should be able to find everything you need at a craft store like Hobby Lobby, Michael's, or an online retailer like 123stitch.

For patterns in particular, I really enjoy browsing Etsy.

If you need tutorials, Youtube has a ton! And they're super relaxing to watch. Lol.

I saw down lower that she likes eevee and pikachu. If she is crafty or would like to try cross stitch, on Etsy I found this adorable easy Eevee cross stitch pattern for only $2. You'd need to also get a hoop (Heres a set of hoops for $5, so if she likes it she could do all sorts of sizes later), some Aida fabric ($5), and one embroidery floss skein of each color. You can find skeins for like $0.99 or less in stores like Michaels. It's only $0.49 at Walmart, but Walmart carries only a few limited colors. It would be good for black and white thread. It's a small pattern so it would only need one of each color (pattern would tell her each color), and it doesn't look like there are more than 5 colors. Over all this would be less than $20. And if she ends up liking cross stitching, then she already will have the hoops and some extra fabric. So future projects would really only be the cost of the embroidery floss skeins, and maybe the pattern, if she buys one. But there are also lots of free patterns online, and some free websites that let you put in a jpeg and convert it into a pattern.

Edit to add-Since Birthday is so close to Christmas, one half could be a Christmas gift, and the other a Birthday gift. It may be less than $20, but I have certainly been in very tight money situations where $20 is way more than I could spend.
